I have been trying to use JCZ for the first time ever and I am coming across some problems.
I do have Java installed and have been trying to open JCZ using Java, but the icon doesn't appear. Also, whenever I try and run JCZ, a window comes up, then disappears, and then it asks if I want to run or save the file. After trying this, I repeat the process and still can't get onto JCZ. I have tried to run this in Microsoft Edge, IE 11 and Chrome but none of them work.
Any suggestions?

Sounds like you're running windows. It should just be a case of downloading and then unpacking the zip file. Unpacking the zip into a folder and then double clicking the jar file from windows explorer.
You shouldn't need to run anything from the browser.
A screenshot would be helpful.

Forgetting to unzip the zip file before running it is very easy to do since you double-click it and Windows helpfully shows you what's inside the zip file in the same way as it would show you the contents of a folder which the contents had already been unzipped to. It even lets you run the .jar file while it's still zipped which is... weird. I would make sure everything has been properly unzipped (using a third-party unzipping tool or even the native Windows tool by right-clicking the file and doing "Extract to...") before trying to run it.

I have problems with running Jcloister as well. I bought new computer, installed java, downloaded JCloister, and game doesn't open. Damm... Guys, help!

Has the JCloisterZone.jar file been associated with your latest Java Runtime?

If it's a new computer, the JRE portion of Java may not yet be installed, which is necessary to run JCZ on Windows without a browser.

Yes, without the JRE the .jar files are not "standalone". Try installing that and maybe reboot computer if it advices it.

I downloaded file you've mentioned, but I don't know how to properly install it... I moved it to Java folder and unpacked it but that's it... And nothing changed... :(

You'll have both Java and JRE installed. Then double clicking JCZ should open as a regular program.

Installed, and... still doesn't work... Which exe file from java folder should run .jar files?

Once both installled you open the .jar file by double clicking on the JCloisterZone.jar or similar.

Yeah, and it still doesn't work... :-[ It's frustrating, because I took my brother's comp and installed everything properly under 5 minutes. There is small difference between devices, my unpacked Jcloister has tag: Jar file, and he has Executable Jar File... Both Windows 10... Does it mean anything?

What happens when you double click on the .jar file?

Sounds like you're on the right track but the program fails to stay open.
1. If not done so, restart computer just in case.
2. Then go back and right click on the .jar file and choose Open with... and select Java Runetime Environment (JRE).
2.1 If JRE does not show, choose the browse to look up the file, which normally lies here: C:\Program Files\Java\j2re (version number) \bin\javaw.exe
3. Choose this a default in the tick box before accepting.

Crisis averted! I used system restore point, and it helped! I installed everything once more, and everything runs like it should! Uffff.... It looks like going back in time can help a great deal!
Guys, THANK YOU! I was frustrated, and you kept up with me. I guess, I can get back to playing Carcassonne!

LOL. Nice. System restore is the ultimate last resort if everything fails. Maybe should've started with that nontheless. O:-)
