Uganda
« on: November 08, 2015, 04:55:08 PM »
Hi all

This is a shameless plea for assistance but on this occasion the assistance required is not for me.  On 18th of this month my parents are going to travel to Uganda with 4 others from their church.  They are going for several reasons and the majority are nothing to do with the church.

They are visiting the schools with whom my daughters school is twinned and delivering various items for the schools, for the teachers and for the community.

What I am asking for is for any donations of items which could help in the schools.  They are taking a laptop and a small solar panel to power it, lots of coloured and drawing pencils, clothes, some soaps, and my wife and I are donating some erasers and pencil sharpeners.  Can any of you help with some school supplies?   Sharpeners, chalk, pens, staplers, more pencils, etc.

Please don't take this as an assumption that you should donate.  I realise some people already donate to some good causes of their own choice, others are not able to spare anything and others just don't want to but all I ask is can you afford a couple of $£€ ?  If you can then buy a pack of pencils from eBay and get them sent to my address ASAP.

Thanks people

Rosco

There's a big, empty envelope in my car with your name (and address) on it Rosco. My plan is to visit the post office at lunch time, fill it with stationary and post it. Hopefully it will be with you by tomorrow morning or possible Wednesday.

Merit to your parents for their involvement in this good cause. :(y)

Thanks! Unfortunately I hadn't thought to bring any Dan meeples with me and didn't have time to go home for any as I was squeezing it all into a lunch hour. I managed to fit a decent selection of things into the envelope though!

You mean you don't carry Dan meeples with you everywhere you go?

Not always. Obviously I have complete sets if my various first aid and emergency/ disaster contingency kits, but usually they just follow me around the house so I don't have to keep any to hand. They didn't follow me to work this morning though.

I have one here - i will put it in so dont worry!  thanks again Dan.

I have a package to send to you soon. I will include an extra meeple to replace the one that goes to Uganda. Because I hate to think of you being without a Dan meeple... :(

Are there any other options to donate? Bank transfer? Buying vouchers for a British stationeries shop online? I consider it a little inefficient sending rubbers etc. in a parcel from Austria to England.
