Does the bridge on the Spiel 19 Promo tile connect the two parts of the city?

I.E. is the city including the spiel tile and the bottom right tile complete in this scenario?

Official Rules / Re: Abbey Questions
« on: July 13, 2020, 01:28:24 PM »
1. Does an abbey separate parts of a city?
If an abbey is placed in an incomplete city, so that it separates a player's builder from the rest of the city, when that player adds a tile to that separated part of the city, does he/she get to draw a second tile?

Or is the builder isolated? Does an abbey separate features so that it could split one city into two cities, with different "winners" in each when the cities are completed?

2. If you place an abbey in a city and put a meeple on it, does that meeple count in determining who wins the city when it's completed?

Thanks,
Russell

P.S. I imagine these questions have been already asked and answered, but I tried searching for these topics and gave up after 20 minutes. We need a search that would find two words within 5 or 10 words of each other!
Not sure how scenario 1 could happen.

The abbey completes features it is adjacent to.

The builder could only have been placed onto a city tile connected to another city tile. So even if the abbey was placed into a suitable gap in a city the builder and the knight was still share at least one city edge and would still be in the same city (so could not have been separated from the knight)

For question two the answer is no. A meeple placed in a abbey is a monk and the abbey is scored as a monastery. (ie. it is not in the city)

I disagree entirely. Season 1 was just Pandemic with some random changes while Season 2 is a very different game with an interesting plot with real twists in it, especially if you played Season 1 first. That’s why I hope Season 0 is a sequel/prequel: the symbol on the boxes is a clock and clocks go round and round. It would make sense if the game is actually depicting a cycle.

Regarding destroying things, we were able to almost completely reset Season 1 after we finished by restoring all the “destroyed” cards and stuffing all the additional components away. All of the stickers came off easily without leaving tears or residue, although they aren’t reusable. It now functions as our normal Pandemic game if people ever come over and want to play.
You’re right actually there about how season one is basically the original fame with additions whereas season feels like a completely different game. I loved Season 2 as well. The plot, gameplay diversity and plot twist were better but I loved the first one because I was more surprised by being led or tricked by the game (attempting to be spoiler free ish!!). In the second one I guess I was expecting a plot twist and was therefore less surprised by it?

I also hope the plot of season 0 links well with the other two. I assume it will do from what I’ve read that it is supposed to complete a trilogy?  A cyclical triology would be an interesting concept too!!

Maybe it will be covert/ spy based? Perhaps the story will be about the original pandemic and coverups?

Dear all,

Welcome to this new installment of Controversial interactions... Let's have some fun.

Controversial Interactions #02 - Castles and  fairies

Some of you may know the fairy was not always welcome in castles. Big Box 3 stated “A player can place the fairy in a castle. If it is there during the castle scoring, it scores 3 points for the player.”

However, according to some official clarifications later, that rule is incorrect. The fairy could be placed in a castle, as it should only be placed on features on a discrete tile.

Then C2 reverted this ruling and now allows you to place the fairy next to a meeple in a castle. So fairies are welcome in castles again. Fine!

And you will ask at this point, what is this guy trying to sell us with all this preamble?

Well, here is the point. Check the following scenario:

1. :orange-meeple: places a semi-circular city and deploys a meeple
2. In a later turn, :orange-meeple: completes the small city...
3. ...and assigns the fairy to their meeple.

At this point, :orange-meeple: decides to convert the small city into a castle. Which is the right action?

4a. The fairy stays on the tile and only the meeple moves to the castle
4b. The fairy moves along with the meeple to the castle

I haven't found any clarifications about this case yet. But we know for certain that the fairy can be placed on a castle in C2 (this is the reason for my ramblings above ;)).

Any thoughts? What would you do and why?

This is a interesting interaction! It’s a tough scenario because there are arguments either way. I’d look at each of the three fairy’s benefits in turn

For the purpose of the bonus 1 point or the bonus 3, it makes no difference which of 4a or 4b you use does it not? Am I correct in saying that, even though the fairy protects other meeple on a tile, the bonus points are only scored by the meeple it is “assigned” to? (With the exception of the bonus 1!point for acrobats?). So whether or not it is moved is irrelevant here.

Protection from the dragon is where it gets interesting I suppose... the meeple in the castle is already protected from the dragon by dint of it being in the castle. However does the fairy being “in” the castle prevent the dragon from entering either of the two tiles involved? (E.g. to protect a phantom or wagon or other figure placed on another feature by portal or flier). Thematically I suppose the answer to this would be no. (The fairy is assigned to the follower, who then becomes a lord/ lady and it follow them there. The dragon cannot penetrate the castle walls but equally the fairy’s magic cannot either?).

I’d lean towards the fairy moving with the lord in the scenario you describe as that’s where it would be if you’d assigned the fairy after placing your castle?

Well it's bound to be good!

I've never actually played classic Pandemic  :-[ :-[ :-[  In fact I've got it somewhere here, but not unpacked it!

I'm not sure I could hack the legacy aspect, tearing up all those cards and components, and sticking things on the board.  I'm sure it's good, but not sure I could do what it said without cheating, or making it temporary.
Yes it’s a very strange concept to rip up cards and write on the board etc. From memory I think season 1 would be easier to make the changes temporary but season 2 would be almost impossible.

Both are good but season 1 definitely better in my opinion!

Official Rules / Re: Interaction of Magic portal and Fliers
« on: July 08, 2020, 02:47:30 PM »
I added some clarifications to The Princess and the Dragon and to Mini #1 - The Flier (Flying Machines) to make explicit these limitations:

In general terms you won't be able to chain the use of magic portals and/or flying machines. The chosen destination is final. In the case of Flying Machines, if there is no valid feature for your filer on the destination tile, the meeple is returned to your supply.

You can check this clarifications here:
* The Princess and The Dragon:

   - (New interactions for The Flier - no cross-chaining): http://wikicarpedia.com/index.php/The_Princess_and_The_Dragon#Magic_portal
