I can not be arsed to check the rules right now, but is there not a limit to how many cult places/cloisters that can border eachother? If so, you could use them as fairly powerful blockers.

Other Games / Top ten games!
« on: November 13, 2014, 01:49:54 PM »
Okay, even though Carcassonne might be a game all of us hold in high regard, there are also other games out there. Truth is ... Carcassonne is not among my top ten favourite games.

This is my list:

1. Space Alert.
This coöperative game is phenomenal. The stress level is extremely high and your mistakes are unavoidable. The hilarity when you realise that you or one of your mates has gone the wrong way and totally collapsed any and all plans for the rest of the round is unmatched. Pair this up with too much alcohol and you have the best evening ever!

2. Chaos in the old world.
Every player is doing his/her own thing. It is very asymmetrical, but almost perfectly balanced. Many games, when one player is declared a winner, somone else could also have won. Amazing game!

3. Power grid.
The old classic dry euro game. What can I say? We just keep playing it over and over. With the robot expansion this is also very good with two players.

4. A game of thrones.
Gather five of your friends and crush them! This is mayhaps even better if you have read/seen the saga it portrays, but even if you have not, this game is excellent.

5. Eat poop you cat!
If you want to laugh your lungs out, this is the "game" you should play.

6. Keyflower.
At least this game sports meeples ... This is such a clever game. You bid with your guys and you activate your tiles with your guys and you try to save some guys for later. You will never be able to get everything you want and you are in a constant shortage of guys. Such a great game!

7. El grande.
The grandfather of area-control games. All information is open and you just have to adjust. This was the first designer game I bought, and it still holds up as one of the most iconic games ever made.

8. Arkham horror.
This not so much a game that you play as it is a story in which you get thrown around. You do not really make a lot of important decisions, but rather react to what happens to you and on the board. Still - the stories it tells are amazing.

9. Dominion.
The first pure deck-builder. Usually I try to get an engine going; one where the cards can do some nifty combos. I rarely succeed. Classic game that fits in everyone's collection.

10. Catacombs.
This game is based on of of those ideas. You know the kind. The "why the HELL did I not think of it first?!"-kind. You flick your way through a dungeon, competing against an evil overlord. Simply fantastic!

This list is not the "be all end all"-list, but maybe you will get curious about one or more of the games here. Good luck trying them out! Now, tell me about your favourite games!  8)

You guys are killing me today. My two best moves have been taken away from me!!
It appears the CAR is slightly inconsistent here.

"A wagon can be placed on an abbey. Additionally, the wagon can drive onto a directly connected city or road after scoring (and the other way round, from city/road to abbey), as long as the target feature has not yet been completed. " Page 76:238.

"The wagon can be moved from a city to a cloister that is within that city (or vice versa), as roads are not required for a 'connection,' just a shared wall/edge/surface." Page 76:239.

General / Re: Poll: What's your favourite major expansion?
« on: October 28, 2014, 03:17:20 AM »
Even though there are elements from other expansions that I like better, I will have to vote for I&C. It is the only big expansion from wich I nearly always use everything.

There should be a yellow meeple on the unfinished city, right?

No clean-up !!! I'm a compulsive reader of the forum (once a day, at least, drinking my cofee at breakfast) but I post rarely because I've nothing intelligent to say ! ;)

At least you have 4 posts! But there are 1593 members with zero posts!
Many of which log on regularly.

I'm thinking I must have fallen asleep in some thread..

What is Carcassonne 'The Sheriff'?
Expansion for the new Goldrush game.

I take that to mean all the HiG expansions.  So one of the two versions of half and half etc. But not the Darmstadt promos.
Who is publishing the Darmstadt?

Today they safely arrived in Sweden!

Thanks again, SRBO^-^

That was what the Facebook post says.  All mini expansions available from the online shop on the 20th.
By "all", I mean all. :)

13
The mini-expansions will be available from Cundco on October 20.
All of them?

General / Re: old Spielbox Expansion - "The Plague"
« on: October 10, 2014, 05:45:39 PM »
The Plague is a rather dynamic and surprisingly good expansion.

I have no pros and cons to give you really, since it plays so differently from everything else, but I would recommend you not to use any other expansion when playing it. I could settle for including GQ11, but that would be it.

If there is sufficient interest and these are going to be difficult/ impossible to get hold of after the Essen fair, is it worth somebody who is lucky enough to be going there buying a whole load of these for sale at cost price within the community here? Kind of like how SRBO has helped out so many of us with the Dutch/ Belgian monasteries.

I for one would be interested in doing this (buying from someone rather than selling as I’m not going to be at Essen), and would even be willing to pay a few Euros extra to whoever was willing to get hold of these...
That you even have to ask this question is purely bollocks! Every expansion should be made available to buy at their shop. Always!

Of course, I too would like to get this expansion, but this bloody stupid exclusive crap has to stop!
