Your abbey tile allows you to finish anything that cannot be finished otherwise. Technically an Abbey can only be used to "fill a hole", as in it needs to go in a space that's already surrounded on all sides. It can't just be used anywhere you want.
Thank you for clarifying that. I'm just saying that the abbey finishes everything on its four sides, so technically it can be used to finish anything so long as you can use it.

If I have to choose between I&C and T&B, I'd go with Inns & Cathedrals. The inns and cathedrals award you more points for roads and cities, respectively, but worthless if unfinished at the end of the game. So this expansion makes the dynamic of the game more challenging, and requires constant attention and rough estimates all the time. Builders in T&B will expand your point difference dramatically and constantly if you use your builder correctly and tactfully, or if you opponent trap your builder in a figure that cannot be finished. This expansion also give you the big follower, which is also so much fun and calls for more tactics. And this one adds a sixth player and the 50/100 points tiles, which are very convenient. When I first played with traders, I thought it was fun, but soon I lost interest in chasing the tokens, as I play mega-carcassonne (with all expansions that I have). You can fight over a token that ultimately awards you 10 points by finishing an 8-point city claimed by your opponent, and it may be beneficial in a 2-player game. In a mega-carcassonne game and a multiple-player game, this usually means more loss. After all, I prefer Abbeys & Mayors to I&C and T&B. Your abbey tile allows you to finish anything that cannot be finished otherwise. And the mayor is really powerful in a competition on a city.

You may use a tower piece in your turn instead of placing a follower. You don't have to have drawn a tile with tower foundation, you may use every tile with tower foundation which is already placed.
Thank you!

When is one allowed to use a tower piece? Anytime s/he wants to? Or does one need to wait until s/he draws a tile with a tower foundation?

Here's my game with SRBO. I managed to block two of his meeples fairly early, but he kept scoring after that when I barely did anything meaningful.

My first game in the 2015 World Cup. I managed to claim the farm and the two barons. In the middle stage of the game, I got the cffr tile! And that's very lucky tile was the most important draw. Thanks, quevy!

Hi guys, I'm back in the US now and I'm free on Sunday. Getting up early shouldn't be a problem now that I'm still having the jet lag. Shoot me a message if you are free for a game.

OK, so it's possible to finish all the cities, roads, and cloisters. This layout is still not good enough in that it's now one row too tall. It requires a 10*9 grid, and I imagine a 9*9 or a 10*8 might be possible. Does anyone has interest in reducing the size? That crop tile is in place of the extra tile in BB5

Sorry for the blurry image, but you get the idea. I need to credit quevy for the layout of the huge city and surrounding area. I rearranged a few tile to close all the road. The hole is supposed to be the starting tile in BB5. Now that it's possible to close all the cities and roads, I'll challenge people (including myself) to construct a layout in which all cities, roads, and cloisters are finished using the base game in BB5. I'm aware that using the original base game (72 tiles in total) and River I, it's possible to finish everything (attached). I think I saw the picture on this forum, but I cannot remember the original post. Also, I remember the author of this layout recognizes that the river has an immediate U-turn, which violates the rule; therefore, I'll challenge everyone and myself to fix that problem.

Maybe it was intended to match with River I. This also has an odd amount of city sides. River 2 has an even amount.
Then I am curious about the roads. Do they complete. If so, can one make all roads and cities completed in one layout?
The total number of road sides is even, so I'll try constructing such a layout.

This is another good reason why Carcassonne needs an extra tile, like BB5
Very true!
