News and Events / Re: CundCo and HiG Newsletter - Spiel 2015
« on: November 12, 2015, 02:00:10 PM »
I received my order from Cundco on Oct 28, after 3-4 weeks.  5 Carcassonne mini-expansions was what I ordered.   However, one of the items they sent me was incorrect.  They sent me BRÜGGE - DIE HAUSTIERE instead of CARCASSONNE - DIE HÄUSER.  I realize that the names are similar, which is probably the cause of the error.  I sent them an email on Oct 29, explaining the error.  I have not heard back from them yet, except for the auto-reply email that they sent explaining that I should NOT re-contact them because it will slow down the process.

Has anyone had any experiences with receiving an incorrect item from Cundco?  If so, do they usually just send a replacement item or do I need to send them back the incorrect first  (That might be costly for me)?  I don't mind waiting as long as I know that I will get taken care of....eventually.

I ordered from Cundco on the 18th.  I got a email today saying that it had been shipped.  Not super quick, but it happened :green-meeple: :)

Hello everyone!

I also entered the world of Carcassonne with the new version (C2).  I became interested in the game and I found a new copy on Amazon and it said that included 2 mini-expansions, the River and the Abbot, so I was sold. I didn't realize that it was a brand new version with different art from all previous expansions.  I bought it close to a year ago, so that must have been when it first came out.

I liked the game so much that I bought a big box 5.  I didn't mind that the artwork was different because the game was still 100% compatible.  I was just happy to have access to many expansions that would work with my game.  I have since purchased Count/King/RobberBarron, Abbey/Mayor, Bridges/Bazaars, Tower, and several mini-expansions.

I know I will take a lot of heat for the following statement, but here it goes:
I actually like the new artwork.   It is probably only because I started with the new and then added the old.....(this old artwork doesn't match my new game I thought to myself).

While it would be ideal to have everything match perfectly, the reality is otherwise.

One important factor for newer Carc-ers like myself is the price/availability issue.  As the remaining quantities of older expansions are reduced, their prices go up significantly.  I bought the German version of Count/King/RobberBarron because the English version in the US is already over $35.   I quickly bought a German version I found for $20 because I was worried that the expansion was soon to become extinct or way way way overpriced. (River II by itself sells in US for $30 on ebay).

I want to get Princess and Dragon, but it is way too expensive for me in the US ($45 on Amazon, $51 on ebay).  The German verson from Cundco will cost 36 euros after shipping.    So...... I am really hoping for it to be re-released, so I can get it a reasonable price.    Plus, if it does come out in CII design it should have some extra gardens for my abbots.

Thanks for the responses everyone!!  I just sat down at the computer and I'll be here for a few hours.  If anyone wants to get a game in, let me know.

BTW, I only know base game, all expansions from big box 5, the count, king/robber barron, phantom, abbey/mayors, gold mines, flying machines and messengers.  Plus the Abbot from Cv2.0.

This may not be the right place for this, but since it seems one of the aims of this topic is to try and get more to play online I figured I'd give it a try.  What is the best way to find games online?  I have Jcloisterzone, but every time I try to join a game I don't have the correct password.  I've joined the chatroom, but it seems like nobody is ever there.  Is there another place I should be going to?  Or am I just going at the wrong times?    Sesquipedalian :green-meeple:

6. I think followers from the City of Carcassonne may only be deployed to already occupied features.

It seems clear to me that you can deploy followers from the City of Carcassonne to any corresponding feature that gets completed, regardless of whether or not it was occupied.

Since farms never get "completed" like the other featrues, I was just trying to figure out if at the end of the game you can deploy a meeple from the market in the City of Carcassonne to an unoccupied farm or if it must only be deployed to share (or overtake) already occupied farms.

From what I've gathered, and with clarification from MrNumbers (Thank you!!!), you can indeed deploy a meeple from the market in the City Carcassonne to an unoccupied farm at the end of the game.

Friends and I played with the Count of Carcassonne last night. Being relatively new to Carcassonne we had some difficulties figuring out some of the mechanics even with the rule sheet and the latest CAR.  Plus, it seems that the rule sheet I have from ZMan Games differs slightly from the CAR rules (Zman version says that the person who completes the feature can choose to place the first meeple from Carcassonne into the feature his/herself or choose the player to the left to decide first).  We understand the requirements to place a meeple (or megameeple) into the city, complete a feature that scores points for an opponent, but you score no points.  We have these questions:

1.  When placing a meeple in Carcassonne, can you place it into the section where the count is, and then move the count?
   - ex.  If the count is in the castle and I close a feature of another player, giving them points and scoring none myself, can I place a meeple in the castle and then move the count to market or other section?

2.  If I close a city of another player, giving them points and scoring none myself, can I move a meeple to the castle (if unoccupied by the count) and then use that meeple to share (or steal) the points for that city????  Or would that mean that I did score points points for that feature and thus I couldn't have placed a meeple into Carcassonne on that turn?

3.  What the previous questions amount to is: Can you pull a meeple out of Carcassone ("redeploy it") on the same turn in which you put one into Carcassonne?   If yes, can you "redeploy" the very same meeple that you just put into Carcassonne on that turn?

4.  It seems that when a feature is completed, it is always the player to the left of the current player (the one who placed the tile to complete the feature) who decides first if they want to move a meeple from the city to the completed feature, followed in a clockwise order.  I understand that a meeple or megameeple may be "redeployed".  I am under the impression that there is only one round of "redeployment".  Is that correct?

5.  How many meeples per player may be "redeployed" when a feature is completed?  Can players "empty out" Carcassonne if all of their meeples in the city correspond to the just completed feature?

6.  At the end of the game, when placing farmers, can the farmers be placed in any field whether it be occupied or unoccupied?

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!!
