Title: Tile different IOS "The Princess & The Dragon"
Post by: quevy on November 04, 2014, 09:44:11 AM
Presumably many of you do not know which version of "The Princess & the Dragon" for Apple operating systems, the tile with the cloister in the city is different, the cloister is outside the city walls.
The graphics of this version I like best, I think sooner or later I will create a tile replacement using a white tile.
What do you think?

They just changed it less than a month ago and it has been done in collaboration with HiG, so it is an official tile.

The reason is that there was a lot of confusion regarding the monastery within the city. Once a meeple was placed on it, we could no longer see the monastery underneath and other players could think there was a knight in the city. As opposed to the physical game, one cannot move the meeple just to glance at the tile and place it back.

Tile has exactly the same configuration (CCCF) so it does not affect gameplay at all. I like it better for the digital port as it does fix the issue.

It's not technically the same. If they ever release an expansion that affects cloisters on a field, that cloister has gone from off a field to on one.

When the cloister is in the city, can a wagon roll between the two?

Good question, that we'll know if and when it will implement A & M.

Yes, it can. CAR, p.76, note 239:
Quote
The wagon can be moved from a city to a cloister that is within that city (or vice versa), as roads are not required for a “connection,” just a shared wall/edge/surface.

But with new style of that tile - cannot.

It isn't a problem just yet because Abbey and Mayor is not yet available on iOS.

Perhaps it should be drawn in this way.

Unfortunately, the regulation prohibits publishing high-quality scans of the original game tiles, even if it comes from digital source, I can do it for personal use only.
