Title: WTB: GQ11
Post by: MrNumbers on January 13, 2014, 12:21:54 PM
GQ11 is one of a very few expansions that I miss. Some time ago I have found it on amazon.com.
http://www.amazon.com/Carcassonne-Game-Tiles-12-Count/dp/B008NDG1YA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1389644152&sr=8-3 (http://www.amazon.com/Carcassonne-Game-Tiles-12-Count/dp/B008NDG1YA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1389644152&sr=8-3)

But unfortunately seller doesn't ship it to Latvia. I have some friends in UK, but after entering their address as a shipping address I've got the same: We don't ship to this country. It seems that they ship only to US.

Where else I can find something similar, I mean price and condition?

If not I make a mistake my friend has a copy for sale in the store, as soon as I hear him ask him how much money he wants, if the price is good you can send it to you.

Someone on BGG is selling GQ11 for US$12.99. I ordered a copy a few days ago and it's been shipped.

Link: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geekmarket/saleitem/658143

Shipping to lower 48 [continental USA] will be $2.99, to Canada will be $3.99, to Europe will be $5.99.

It's still available on www.carcassonneshoppe.com:

$10.99 plus postage. I'm pretty sure Ted ships internationally and will give you a good rate on postage if you contact him directly...

Thanks!

I'm going to do just that...

EDIT: Also, if it makes it cheaper & easier for everyone, I wouldn't mind redistributing in the UK so one package could be sent from NZ to keep postage costs down.

I have 3 people in the UK interested and also SRBO. That may make it more economic to send a load to the UK to be distributed.  I will need to order more copies, so will wait and see who else expresses interest over the weekend.

Title: Re: WTB: GQ11

OK. I have got some prices etc.

I have the following interested:

Guy
Koremu x2
Decar x2
Rosco x2
Curt194
SRBO (seperate postage)

I have 3 options for postage.

Option 1)
If I were to send 8 copies of the magazine + tiles to the UK, NZPost will charge NZ$51. This makes each copy of the Magazine + tiles around $16.65.

Option 2)
If I send just the tiles, I can send up to 3 sets in each parcel, and the cost is NZ$10 per set plus $5.60 postage. I am restricted to 200g per "letter", and the magazine + tiles weigh 211g. Tiles alone weigh 54g.

Option 3)
If I were to remove the frame around the tiles, I could get away with a magazine + tiles as that comes in just under 200g.
Cost is NZ$15.60

So, what I need from you guys is agreement on how to send them.
I am thinking of Option 1, and sending 1 parcel to the UK. It means paying both myself for the magazines and postage, and then also paying the person in the UK to send them on, but if all agree, and can do options 2 or 3. This means you will not get a complete magazine and tiles. I will have to open each magazine up and reduce the weight.
SRBO, I am thinking you would be better with the last option.
If you can decide how you want them sent, I will get them on the way, once I have ordered some more copies. Also, I believe there is a limit at which VAT gets charged. Can anyone tell me the limit so I can make sure the magazines are under this limit ;-).
Title: Re: WTB: GQ11
Post by: Decar on June 14, 2015, 03:16:13 AM
I like Option 1 the best, for the extra 45p postage + 74p for UK second class.  But this might not be so good for SRBO.  UK to Netherlands is about 2GBP.

Rosco am I sending you some home-made Russian Tiles too?

I've also got another Russian-Count box on the way; which will be looking for a home (Rosco/Koremu/Curt/SRBO?).

Perhaps I can bundles these together?

EDIT:  VAT charges are usually pretty simple: If an item's VAT is less than 8GBP they don't bother collecting it (I want to check this value but can't find at the moment).  VAT is 20% so items more than 40GBP are charged VAT.  Then delivery companies charge an extra 8 or 12 for paying the bill for you as a handling fee.

Sometimes I have seen the calculation be made on item+Postage; not just the item - and it's very difficult to reclaim.

DO NOT mark the item as a gift - I was once stung for a BOOK mis-labelled and in the UK we do not pay VAT on books.  I am not sure about magazines.

So using 35GBP as a good safety mark - I think that's about 77.9NZD.

how much would the russian box cost Decar?

i dont understand, the VAT thingies?
Title: Re: WTB: GQ11

Re: VAT

In the UK we have a Value Added Tax (VAT), which must be paid on pretty much everything we buy.  It's currently at 20%.  When Andrew sends something to the UK from NZ, we are expected to pay 20% of the item's value to the UK Government.  When posting the item he must declare it's worth eg: 100GBP.  In this case when the Item arrives in the UK, H&M Revenue and Customs will declare that a duty must be paid eg: 20GBP.  The delivery company will pay the cost and add an additional 8GBP for administration/handling.

So, if you buy something for 100GBP.  When it arrives you'll pay another 28GBP.

Hopefully Andrew will be able to assign a suitable cost on the items we, who ever picks up the bill doesn't need to pay the VAT.

SRBO, I'll PM you about Russian Tiles, but I should give Rosco first refusal as he missed out last time.

I am happy without the magazine.  So postage would be direct to me I guess or I can redistribute in the UK if that will work out cheaper.

Decar I will send a PM to you regarding the Russian count and the  2 tile mini.

I'm possibly a little late to the party, but if there are still copies of the expansion with magazine still available to the UK then I'd love to receive one. If not, or it's a lot of trouble getting more, don't worry about it. It's my own fault for not posting sooner...
Title: Re: WTB: GQ11

Right, I've looked into this, and found that VAT is only charged on imports into the UK of £15 or more (source: http://www.dutycalculator.com/help_center/Import-duty-and-taxes-explained-in-a-nutshell/)

Because NZ$9.99 is UK£4.48, I can import 3 without having to pay any VAT (cost of postage is ignored).

As such, I'll have to import the 2 I want for me and a mate, and can handle 1 more if anyone wants me to, but it'd be more hassle than it's worth dealing with customs for more than that, sorry  :(

Failing that I might import 3 and bank one. I'm sure someone will want them in trade, some day  >:D

Thanks Guy, I think I slipped you into the Tiles category.  I think its safe to say: it's cheaper for the individual to get just the tiles vs the the tiles with the magazine.
Title: Re: WTB: GQ11
Post by: Koremu on June 16, 2015, 05:50:00 AM
Well from what Andrew says you can have magazine and tiles for the cheap postage rate as long as you don't mind having the tiles loose without a frame.

Personally I'm not bothered about the magazine (I don't think there's much else of interest in it), but I *really* don't want to have to deal with the bureaucratic tangles of Her Majesty's Customs and Excise C:-) if I can possibly avoid it - hence, keeping it below the £15 import limit.
Title: Re: WTB: GQ11
Post by: Rosco on June 16, 2015, 05:59:18 AM
That was my point regards customs.
Title: Re: WTB: GQ11
Post by: Guy on June 16, 2015, 06:15:19 AM
My final answer is this: Magazine with tiles but no frame. This means cheap postage and can be classified as a magazine for customs.

I am happy to receive this individually from Andrew or via a UK third party but in light of all the variations and cost implications it may be easier and cheaper for both Andrew and me for it to be sent individually...

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Can't hurt to ask, but if available still, how much would 4 copies of unpunched tilesheet (without the magazine) cost to ship to Sweden? I.e. What would I have to pay incl. shipping?

If only 1-3 copies available, how much that instead?

From the prices he PM'd me before, the shipping would go from NZ$5.60 to NZ$17 if the package goes over the 200g limit.

So it'd probably be cheaper to do 2 separate packages than do it all in one!

1. Sure, why not. How much would it then cost too have 4x unpunched sheets shipped in two letters, incl shipping?

Update: How much wouldt the total cost be for 4 copies of the magazine, 4x tilesheets unpunshed and shipping be? Preferrably sealed.

OK. I need to think about ordering the packs.

What I have so far is:

1 Magazine only. Postage will be NZ$3.60, magazine is free as I will have spares (I hope the others do not mind)
Quevy

1 Set of tiles only posted to each person $NZ15.60
SRBO

2 Sets of tiles only posted to each person $NZ25.60
Rosco
Paul - You want 2x above, so NZ$51.20

3 Sets of tiles only posted to each person $NZ35.60
Koremu

1 Magazine and Set of tiles with no frame posted to each person $NZ15.60
Guy

Multiple packs
Danisthirtyandverythirsty and Decar, PM me how many sets you want.

Curt194 - You need to get back to me.
.
That is 12 sets, excluding Curt194, Danwillbeforty and Decar.

If you are happy with this, can you PM me your address and pay to my Paypal to confirm. I will PM you my account e-mail separately.

Yes. People can specify the currency and amount to pay you when they make the payment.

It may also be worth specifically requesting that people pay you using the "Friends and Family" option rather than the "Goods and Services" option, otherwise you will end up paying the PayPal fee and won't get the full amount of money.

Keep in mind - PayPal is cracking down on this, and closing/imposing fees on accounts that are doing this 'excessively'.  Four of my artist friends that take commissions have had fees of $100 imposed on them for breaking the rule. :(

I think it depends on how you use it. If none of us make any profit, then it really is a friend and family payment. All those years I've had PayPal never has this occured. But I should also mention that things may have changed. The split between PayPal and eBay for example.

This year alone I've used Friends'n'Family as a receiver and haven't had any issues. I've also sent payment almost this many times totalling the amount of a few hundreds of USD without any issues.

Hope this settles the ease!  :)

Hello friends.

I'm delighted to consider Andrew a friend, just as I am with the majority of people on this forum. However, it could still be argued that we're contravening PayPal's policies or what have you because we are still paying for goods/ services (well, certainly goods in this case anyway).

However, when you're paying for goods/ services from a friend/ family (not ruling out us collectively being adopted by Andrew depending on whether we deem all the paperwork and legal costs to make this worthwhile) you're in both camps quite legitimately so it isn't clear which method you should use. For this reason I say we should stick with Plan Alpha and pay Andrew as our friend (and potential family member)...

Worth noting that if you're paying friends and family, it's harder to file a claim against the seller if your stuff never arrives. Not that that's likely to be a problem here mind.

Thank you!

Hello, is it still possible to get this magazine?

I'm new here and I really want that magazine too, could you help me? I live in Brazil and I'm interested in two magazines, complete, with the tiles. My postal code is 29015-000.

 Thanks in advance! :)
