I would say that depends who you're playing against and how the game goes. Scores can vary a lot, even in just the basic game...

Anyway, it sounds like it was a deeply tactical game and that meeples were in short supply. Well played both, it sounds like a shame that there had to be a loser...

It was a tight match, Merlin took a lead in the beginning, which I could overcome by winning a big cathedral city. Afterwards there had been mainly cunning battles for farms, which more or less all ended up equal.

Frank and I are planning to do our game at 4 pm CET this afternoon. I do not know, if he can host, or if he will reply before the game, because it is half past one in the morning in Calgary right now. So, if anybody, who can host is available at that time, it would be great.

I will leave my laptop on for you to connect to if necessary (will PM you both the details). If this doesn't work for whatever reason and you're really stuck then do use the online server. I think it has been used quite reliably so far in this competition...

Great, thank you! Yes, I planned the online server as a back up solution, since it is quite stable, now. Still, for a big competition game, I still prefer a hosted game.

Franks vs. Hounk

After a good start for me, it took me ages to get a RRFF to free two of my meeples on a road, which finally secured me robber baron. In the meantime, franks got in advance by finishing a lot of features, while I was relatively short on meeples. Then he sneaked into a few of my features, won the main farm and I didn't had any chance to fight back. Very well played by Franks, the result was devastating.

Lots of playing in our group today!
I haven't said... Kudos for Hounk, he served me my first loss on JCloister yesterday.

Today, new day. Merlin_89 199-102 Franks

Lots of things went my way, but start was tight and score was even. Then I took over city on the north (7 tiles) that gave me King, it meant small advantage for me. Franks tried to pursue city with cathedral, but I made it hard to be completed. Big fight took place on field, Franks sneaked into that and I was certain he'll score it, but last tile changed it to a draw (30 points).

It looks like, we only wait for games with Aenima. She (?) wrote to me that she returns to home on Wednesday. Lots can change after those games.

Wow... From the xscore I see I need to win 3 games! Hard work!!! So... I can play this evening around 20.00 - 21.00... Maybe I can do more then 1 game. Let me know!

Aenima agreed to schedule a morning game with me, thanks to that I finished all my group games.

I won, but what a game it was! Lot of things started from the very beginning. We quarreled for stupid roads in the center. Then he attacked my cloister and my road, and made it extremely hard to complete. Very quickly lots of our meeples were tangled into incompleted roads, cloisters in the middle of the map. I tried to score little things, but he definetely planned further in future, he invested meeples in large city in the North (around 28 points if he completed), he only waited for one specific tile... I was down on points, and quite desperate I even finished his 8 tile road, because I knew it will give me a robber. Things started to look brighter when I blocked 2 meeples in his catherdral construction. I got tile that allowed me to score partially on city in the North. Then we finally started to play farm game, he invested in West field, I put Farmer in East side (very similar in points). I had big meeple in hand, so I decided to make big move, I put him on church tile (but on farm), that's how I sneaked into Aenima's West farm, and stole it. After that game was decided... It's worth mentioning that he was still ahead of me after regular game...

Aenima is definetely a tough cookie! Beware of him!
