The final combo is tainted by the fact that I wanted to throw the laptop at the cat with over 100 tiles left.

I actually laughed out loud at that!  I do agree that it went on a long time but I know that when on the losing side even a base game can feel very long so this must have been excruciatingly long!

Guys - I would like to point out that the scoring system in this tournament was specifically designed to ensure feline safety from portable electronic projectiles, as it is the point difference at the end of the game that is important, not the win.

I believe that, at one point, Rosco had a lead of about 200 points. If this is true, from this point onwards, Halfling did the equivalent of winning a game by 45 points (and getting a win bonus of 30). Congratulations on this win Richard!!  :D

Cats should be able to rest safely now I trust?

I did indeed play properly until the final tile and was gutted that the last crrr was not a tile that allowed any of 3 meeples to be glommed in to the big farm to reduce Roscos score by 68 points. I was never getting back to a win but respectability would have saved me a vets bill.

My wife is a cats whisker from banning me playing online.

Well played Rosco.

+1 merit for your good humour despite your loss. :)

Best of luck in your next game! :(y)

With 12 games played out of 28 we have 2 players who have qualified. Any more matches planned in the near future?

In line with recent developments in this competition, I would like to introduce a new rule that must be adhered to for the remaining games:-

No pets of any description are to be in attendance at any match played in the Alternative World Cup, unless they are suitably dressed in Hi-Viz clothing and suitable body protection (hard hats, ear defenders, work boots) and accompanied by a responsible adult.

Please ensure that this new rule is followed for all remaining games.

Do children and wives fall under the same ruling?

Children and wives count as responsible adults (all things are comparative).

Hope that helps?

You should tell them to get out more often. They might meet someone nice.

This thread has turned rather humerous!

The humerus is the (upper) arm bone. It joins with the scapula above at the shoulder joint (or glenohumeral joint) and with the ulna and radius below at the elbow joint.

That is your fault for having no consideration for Richard's cat last night. I hope that you feel suitably guilty!!  ;D
