Thanks Dan, this is a great news letter! and an impressive list of topics/articles that kept me reading :)
Congrats to DIN0, well deserved and a tough pool of candidates! I'm sure Dan will be sending you lots and lots of pictures of prizes

I'll need to work on the homework and the what comes next, but i'll make Supervisor Nick happy by telling him my thoughts on the knowledge quiz

News and Events / Re: An Interview with Board Game Arena
« on: February 01, 2022, 03:46:08 AM »
Great interview, it's always nice to get a small idea from behind the scenes from places like BGA.
I was pushed to BGA by some people on the forum not too long ago, as it is indeed a great platform for playing online boardgames, and we have done several games nights almost exclusively on there, and i now basically always have some turn-based games going.

As there are many many games i don't know, this platform allows for easy learning and playing of the games. The games are almost playing themselves sometimes :P

Those are notorious for cracking.
I got one brand new a few years ago, and with moving house a few times and moving it around, the sides are already letting go. Tiles are still in seal, brand new, but the box looks worse than some older base games I've got!
Got a second one which was more used, but again the sides let go so easily

« on: January 31, 2022, 10:43:30 AM »
In 2012 I hadn't heard of the game of Carcassonne, or the city of Carcassonne for that matter.
It was the year when I moved out from my parent's house and started playing more brazilian percussion (samba). I had already been doing that for some years, but at this point I was teaching and playing in several groups

That would be a small museum  :o
Might be able to squeeze it in as mini-exhibition

Great find Dan, i really liked playing that one

And i guess your postman likes to send you on a treasure hunt, and as you are so good at it, he decided to make it a bit more difficult ;)

I think that team Kettlefish & Meepledrone are the best for the job!
Would it be team Kettledrone? Or Meeplefish?  :o

There are some, but very minor i'd say.

Here is a set of tiles in frame from Winter Edition 2020, and some loose tiles from Winter Edition 2012:

I grabbed some random ones, maybe there's a bigger difference on other tiles?

Haven't posted in a while...
Two weeks can feel like an eternity when Carc is in the mail... ;D

Track package... Check front porch... Track package...

Exactly! This morning i checked my front porch only to find....
Another delivery  ;D

But apart from my very friendly postman, i also had a very special delivery from Halfling, who visited in person for a delivery of new additions to the museum, but also for a nice cup of tea and a good catch up!

They've also placed the following message on their website:

Attention: Due to internal changes, there might be issues with the frontend (your site), as well as with the backend (our operational site). At the moment, we can`t tell until this is solved, so if your order is not pressing, please try again in about 2 weeks (mid February). Placed orders should not be affected. As soon as we are back to normal, we will delete this message. Sorry and thanks for your understanding, your Carcassonne-Team

Hahaha! Never seen that one before!
I like the rules, and it does indeed give a good purpose to the bags of 100 meeples they sell

General / Re: Mega-Carcassonne how many base games
« on: January 26, 2022, 10:47:35 AM »
It depends a bit on how many expansions with their rules you want to use.
If you want to do a big but easy game, then 2 or 3 base games are great to just add volume.
Adding many expansions can complicate things a bit in terms of rules, which can work, as long as you're familiar with the rules
