Title: Hunters & Gatherers
Post by: Darwin on November 24, 2014, 07:39:04 PM
Recently I got hold of the Hunters & Gatheres.

In my opinion this is a more interesting game, when you want a quick small game, than the traditional Carcassonne. And I really love the artwork.

My girlfriend and I have been playing it a lot recently, and I have been winning almost every time. But yesterday we introduced the Scout expansion, and everything changed.

We had two games.

She won the first game with 236 point against my 142. I was further humiliated after the game was finished, when we discovered that she had been playing with only 4 follower and I with 5.  ???

In the second game I was really focused and pleased with my play. But it ended with a tie - 202 point for each of us. :(

I don't think I like the Scout expansion - my girlfriend loves it >:( ;)

My wife and I enjoy H&G too. Whenever we decide to play a game of Carc we mix it up between several of the spin-offs as well. I liked the mechanics in H&G so much they were the basis for the Animal Farm (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=196) expansion I wrote. You should check it out if you haven't. Sorry for the shameless plug - consider it a public service announcement.  ;D

Thanks for the tip. The rules for your Animal Farm expansion look really neat. :(y) I especially liked that there are no new tiles, only tokens. Definitely one of the expansions I shall try out. :)

I've been wanting a copy of this for a while, but my brother is even closer to completing his collecting already having all the other base games.
So I'm hoping to grab a copy for him for Christmas. One just came on ebay from Australia. (If you're going to bid let me know...I don't really want to bid against anyone from here if I can help it)

Good luck winning this AlbinoAsian! Make sure you keep a close eye on it right to the last second if possible!  :(y)

I saw a copy of Hunters and Gatherers for €12 in Barcelona today which seemed like a good deal. But the theme doesn't interest me, plus I didn't have any room left in my bag, so I didn't seriously consider buying it.
