Have you pimped your Carc?
« on: November 14, 2014, 03:14:06 PM »
I would like to fully pimp my Carcassonne set - I have started this process by having wooden trade goods, wooden coloured dice for scoring, wooden little buildings, wooden king and robber baron, and tuck boxes, and soon I will hopefully have a custom wooden box.

What do you have that is not standard? I am not referring to fan expansions but standard items that you have improved somehow.

Looking forward to your thoughts.

I have those wooden resource bits too but I actually prefer to use the standard tokens. Watch this space though!  ;)

Meeplesource are great for replacing tokens. I have special meeples to mark the size of the largest city and road for King & Robber Baron, and I also have around 150 individual meeples + 15 sets of 8 meeples on the way which I bought through their KickStarter back in March (fulfilling these has taken a while). I have already identified meeples that will be perfect replacements for the standard Mage, Witch, Fairy, Dragon, Count and Teacher and can't wait to play with them.

I haven't really looked into replacing anything like bridges (although I've seen some on eBay), gold bars or ferrys but this may come at some point.

I have the same trade goods as kettlefish and have “made” my own king- and Robber-meeple (Pictures). I think the Teacher look too much alike a phantom, so I use a big purple meeple instead. When we play large games we use wooden cylinders in different colours to mark which cities who belongs to the different farms.

Does this mean you use First Edition farmer scoring?

No, we don't use the First Edition farmer scoring.
In big games you don't want to have a farmer on the landscape for the duration of a whole game. Besides, it's a good chance that he will be removed by a tower or the plague, or eaten by the dragon. But nothing can remove the barn! We use the wooden cylinders when the first barn is placed. We have had games where the farm with a barn has been scored additional 7 times, when other farms with a farmer have been connected. The wooden cylinders make it easier to count. ;)

I have wooden trade goods from www.spielmaterial.de

I like the barrels a lot but not really the other two. But I also just like barrels in general :)

I haven't really looked into replacing anything like bridges (although I've seen some on eBay), gold bars or ferrys but this may come at some point.

Someone posted links to cool ferries and bridges in another thread a few weeks ago. I think they look good so I might consider getting them.

I don't yet have the ferries or the bridges expansions so I don't have those bits yet either.

I saw those, but I wasn't that interested at first. I happened to be browsing eBay out of boredom a few nights ago though, saw them again and ended up ordering them anyway as they were quite cheap. I'll post some pictures of them in use once they arrive (and I have a chance to play with them).

Anyone know where I can by decent wood towers as a replacement for the towers in the Little Buildings expansion? I didn’t find anything I liked at spielematerial.de and meeplesource.com :-\

Wasn't those the towers from the Car-game The City?
