General / Re: C1 Edition Identification Help
« on: February 24, 2022, 05:46:47 AM »
Interesting!

From what i've been able to compare, the barcodes made the difference between the RGG 1st and 2nd editions. It can be that it is more a country-thing, where 1 was used in UK and 1 in US for example.
It shows that sometimes it can be tricky to find a true 1st edition, and RGG has not made it easy.
HiG and 999 have made it a bit easier, as you can tell clearer on the box if it's a 1st edition

I can't see the pictures, but this might help:

Sounds to me like it is actually a 2nd edition from Rio Grande.
On the box, it is really difficult to spot the difference with the 1st edition, as the only difference is the barcode actually.
1st edition barcode: 4001504481254
2nd edition barcode: 655132001700

other than that, the boxes are identical. The 1nd edition indeed comes with the gray 50 point scoretrack, not the 70 point one from the 1st edition.
The rules are also identical, with 1st edition farmer scoring and small city scoring.

The River seems to be an addition someone made, but wouldn't have been included in the box when it was bought new.
Does that help answer your question?

It's sounds interesting, as it's partly co-op, and partly as per usual.
I guess the idea is that the ghosts are a common enemy to all players, so you need to work together to get rid of them, and then play the game as per normal.

As they say it's both an expansion and stand-alone game, I wonder if it will be available as a separate game, and then later with the Fog elements alone as expansion?

That is absolutely right, not only proven by a double postman visit today!

First, my local postman stopped by to bring this:

The Falcon expansion for The Castle, as made by Print&Play games in the US. I've given the gate pieces a try, which seem to fit ok, some tighter than others, but I'm sure it will work fine in a game. Will need to play this one soon!

And then not long after, another postman dropped this box at my doorstep:

I've known of this one for a while, but never saw it for sale anywhere. So I messaged a random person on BGG who had it, asking them if they would be open to 'donate' it to the museum, and they agreed! Very quick delivery from Finland, and here it is!

Interesting, thanks Den Ozzy for sharing that!

Looking at the base games for sale from the Philippines as Scott said, they look even more knock-off. Over saturated colours, etc
The RGG-style logo is a big giveaway, even though this 4 expansion box is well made it seems.
There's quite a few knock off versions of Carcassonne around, but you don't often see such unique ideas

Postman was here!

For some reason I always expect to receive massive big boxes full of Carcassonne, but as I then order lots of small stuff, it's pack quite tight  ;D
But still, happy with this cundco order

I really like the new mini boxes from cundco, with quite nice designs!

And the new bags!

Interesting, never seen that before.
The inlay looks ok, but still I think this is a fake box.
Maybe not made by the seller, but not an official Carc release.
For 1, the logo on the box says Sur Knight Kings, but in the font of Rio Grande Games.
The only thing I could find on that, is this BGG post, where someone asks if it's legit, and even our own Decar outing suspicion that its probably fake.

The box looks nice, but the knock-off from the RGG logo makes me think it's fake.
Perhaps a good print over the front cover of a base game?

If the tiles look ok, you can of course buy it, and I'd be interested in seeing more from the box to see how it's made, but I highly doubt it's a licensed release

Hmm...
Could you maybe share a picture of the box?
I'm not aware of any such bundle; it can be of course that they are separate expansions that the seller has just bundled together

News and Events / NK Carcassonne 2022 (Dutch Championships)
« on: February 22, 2022, 01:39:19 AM »
The NK Carcassonne 2022 will be held on the 24th of April 2022, in Veldhoven.

Entry to the tournament itself is free, but you do have to register and pay entry for the convention where it's held (Zuiderspel).
You can sign up here.

Maximum of 256 players, playing in the following format:
- 3 rounds of 3,4 or 5 player games (depending on the amount of players in the tournament)
- Depending on amount of players at a table, points are scored:
                - 1st = 5 points
                - 2nd = 3 points
                - 3rd = 2 points
                - 4th = 1 point
                - 5th = 0 points
A draw will see points for the places added up and divided by the amount of players (so if 2 people draw for 3rd, they see (2+1)/2= 1.5 points each)
- 45 mins max playtime
                - If after 45 mins the game has not finished, the round is finished giving everyone equal amount of turns, before end scoring is initiated

After the 3 rounds, the top 16 move on to the finals
- All finals (eight/quarter/semi/full) are 1v1 knockouts
- The winner gets to represent The Netherlands in Essen for the World Championships

- Games are played as per the standard Dutch rules, with the following clarifications/changes:
                - You draw a tile at the end of your turn (you don't have to show it to your opponent(s)
                - The end of the table is the end of the field (it doesn't say, but this does imply that features are not completed by the end of the table, just left incomplete)
                - Small cities are 4 points, not 2 (don't know why they are clarifying a rule that got changed in their rulebooks as well back in 2002, but it seems for some reason that 999 is still                      confused by this)
                - Farmers are laid flat
                - Farms are counted as per majority of farmers. The player(s) with the most farmers get 3 points per completed city. This rule is different from the Dutch rules, but this was changed in other countries and used on the WC, so we use this
(I actually have commented on 999's post about this, as this is not the case, and was changed in the NL rules in 2002 just like everywhere else, so quite sloppy from them i'd say)

Other notes:
- Players are expected to know the rules of the base game
- You cannot talke to players, or otherwise help them, during the games
- You don't have to have the Dutch nationality to enter this tournament, however you then won't be able to represent NL in Essen
- Minimum age for participants is 8 year

The schedule for the day:
10.00 – 10.45 Aankomst deelnemers
10.45 – 11.25 1e round
11.25 – 11.40 Break
11.40 – 12.20 2e round
12.20 – 12.35 Break
12.35 – 13.15 3e round
13.15 – 13.45 Break
13.45 – 14.15 Eight finales
14.15 – 14.45 Quarter finales
14.45 – 15.15 Semi finales
15.15 – 15.45 Finales and small finales (for 3rd place)
15.45 – 16.00 Award ceremony

General / Re: The Meeple's Gambit or The Carcassonne Gambit?

I actually like The Meeple's Gambit a bit better, but that's probably because it rolled of the tongue a bit easier

That is a really nice one!
I still need to find something like that for my room as well, but that will come eventually

Thanks Scott!
+1 merit!

And I only now noticed that in the original pdf, in the Preparation of the Game, it goes step A, C, D, E and F  :o
No step B in sight hahaha
