UNSTOPPABLE

Finished my game with StartPlayer.

This was tough and very interesting game, there was a lot of moments to think quite long.
We both started with many small cities. Whole game we had +- equal points count.
Then it started changing by +~20 point to me then to StartPlayer when we tried to connect or win that huge farmers field.
At the end StartingPlayer has won this field, but it did not give him the game win, because after he placed his last worker,
we had 25 tiles left and I still had 2 workers to play with. After he won the field, we had 16 tile left and score was 110 : 113, I was losing,
with my last worker I gained those 37 points during 8 moves and won the game.
There were tiles, that could help him to win:
1. rcfr tile - to finish bottom city and get worker.
2. German Monasteries with road - to finish road with inn and get worker.
But both those tiles came to me at the end, so I got lucky this time also.

Thank You StartPlayer and good luck in next rounds.  :violet-meeple:

I pretty much agree with this analysis.  I've found these expansions its been harder to trap.  with so many small cities at the start I went into a farming war much earlier than I would normally.  My other mistake was not getting a maple back when it would have extended Skane's german monastery.  as he said committing to the field and running out of maples was my downfall.  well played.

final game of round 2 for me was a win against Daromar 173-149.   played very differently to first two game.  the german cloisters didn't appear till later and the large maple was more of a factor I felt.  no farmers were played until make 30/40 tiles left.  I played in such a way that 2 of my own men were potentially trapped in exchange for potentially trapping his large meeple which I think might have been was just swung it as I was able to get my large meeple into a field near the end.

When you lose, do not look at what you lost, but what's left to win ..

Final game for me tonight (and i think Skane also)

It was a good match up. I took a small early lead with some small cities and roads, Also getting a few of Skanes meeples temporarily stuck (but not trapped) - these were freed about 15-20 tiles later and Skane took on a fairly comfortable lead of about 20-25 throughout the mid game. I started building a city up top and Skane threw in the cathedral to try and scupper me but i didn;t let it phase me. i carried on building!!!

Sometimes you just don;t know when to stop and when Skane put the second cathedral in i knew it was all or bust on that city.

Sitting about 25 points behind and about 20 tiles to go i finally pulled the cccc piece to slot into the gap and with the Mage in there i took home a MASSIVE 83 points!!!!

from there on in it was just a case of not messing it up. I snook a few meeples into the filed and Skane managed to get one in in the final few tiles to draw the main field, but i had also grabbed a couple of smaller fields too.

final scores

Clownfeet 248 - Skane 198

A cracking game that completely turned and flipped winners on one tile! such is the beauty of the game!

must...collect...more...tiles....

Yes that was really amazing game, very, very stressy game.
Whole beginning of the game I tried to ruin that huge city and then there left only one gap for 1 tile - cccc
We both needed that tile, because that was winning tile.
And after 20 moves it came to Clownfeet, after that I have been morally trashed) and could not think properly any more,
maybe there was possibility for me to steal big field as Clownfeet tried it in last moves, I don't know.
Anyway that was amazing game, thank You Clownfeet. :violet-meeple:

P.S. I think I lost, because of incorrectly written nickname  :))

I have filmed this game, and now I see that I had possibility to steal field before Clownfeet tried to do that.
As I said, I could not think properly any more)

yeah, i think if you had stolen that field where i put my final red one up the top you might have got the game?

Hard to say, maybe yes, maybe not, no one knows how would you play then, I think in successful scenario with stolen field, I could finish that bottom city also and got worker for last tile (because I got that city ending tile, but used it to connect my last worker to field) and then winning score could be +- few points.

Excellent work everyone - really great to see so many games being completed in record time!  :(y) :(y)

Here are the standings for Group 2 (assuming no mistakes from me):

Also, any preferences for the 3rd (probably final) round?

Last year's final-round was a very big game including: The Phantom, Traders & Builders, The Tower, Corn Circles II ~120tiles.  But last year there were enough players to have 3 groups and 3 players in the final round.

How feasible do you think organizing a time for 2x4 players games would be?

Last year's final-round was a very big game including: The Phantom, Traders & Builders, The Tower, Corn Circles II ~120tiles.  But last year there were enough players to have 3 groups and 3 players in the final round.

We could add 2 big expansion for example: Traders & Builders + Princes and dragon OR if someone don't want aggressive expansions then T&B + (King and Scout OR Abbey and mayor).
+ Several mini expansions: The Phantom + The Gold Mines + The Flying Machines

How feasible do you think organizing a time for 2x4 players games would be?

We have 5 or 6 European players. And 2 or 3 American players (Don't know where WhatIf is from). If in each group will be 1 American player then it might work.

The current rankings look like this:

The proposal here was Round 3 would be:the top-2 seats of each Group and bottom 2-seats of each Groups to make a 4-player final.

If that's logistically difficult, we'll have a play off between both groups: 1st vs 1st , 2nd vs 2nd ...

What If - is from Sweden, I believe!
