Deal!  I'll be hanging around in Slack around 9.00 PM CET then tomorrow.

Hello Leven,

Yes. How about 9 p.m. CEST?

Hello Leven,

No game has been played in the premiership in April. :( 12 out of 21 games are still ahead which seems an almost impossible mission as we have less than 3 weeks left from the competition. Still, I'd like to play my remaining games. MrNumbers, Rich_The_Fish, Thodekey: are you available for a game this week?

Euh,

Is it only me thinking "why not make a map of France as background instead of Germany?  After all - although some Germans would like to have it otherwise- Carcassonne still lies in France, right?

PS: thanks to TheSteveAllen for hosting our game!

Regular Scoring:
196 Jackface - Thodekey 175

TheSteveAllen ScoringSystem:
2 Jackface - Thodekey 3

Strange and intense game!  I placed more meeples in the beginning then I ought too and after Jackface added a cathedral to the city where my big follower was, he successfully tried to trap that meeple...leaving me on hoping to draw that one CFRF-tile and rather soon than later.  I was lucky!
Meanwhile, I succeeded in scoring long roads (one with an inn in the south) and completing 2 cloisters which gave me an advantage in those features.  Jackface had superiority over the farms.
Leaving the fight for the cities and points difference open.  Once again, I succeeded in loosing by points due to the expansion I choose myself: Jackface collected 9 gold bars, I only had 2: resulting in a 25 points advantage for Jackface.
Luckily again, I drew the last cathedral, avoiding it to be added to one of my many uncompleted cities which would have surely cost me the overhand in the city points.
Jackface made an almost fruitful attempt to complete 2 cloisters in the last part of the game...coming only 1 point too short to succeed.

To conclude (1): I leaded the entire game on points but I never had the feeling I would win because Jackface was outsmarting me with his tile placement for a large part of the game.
To conclude (2): gold doesn't love me at all but apart from that, I surely had the feeling luck was on my side.

I wish you the best in the games to come/complete, Jackface and thank you for the fun game.

Hello Dan,

This evening 20:30 UK would be perfect.  I'll be hanging around in Slack this evening so I'll meet you there. ;-)

Anyone available this evening or this weekend for a game in this league?

I promise i won't try to get end scores that add up points of one another like some already have.  The thought alone...  ::)

I will probably be free on Saturday or Sunday evening and would definitely be up for a game.

Can we say 20:30 UK/ 21:30 CET ?

TheSteveAllen,

You're the boss but given the response of the first Tournament, it might be better to stick to 2 Leagues with people committed to play all their games.
And what i'm not sure of: can people change their expansion per season or do we stick to our chosen expansion for a whole year?

Greetings from a fan of this kind of competition.  ;)

That sounds fair. Plus it helps me avoid relegation, doesn’t it?
I think that relegation is highly unlikely. The premiership might even contain 7 members in the Spring Tournament.

Rich the Fish 2 - 3 Thodekey

Because only the winner of this league could get promoted, there were only 2 ways left for me to win this league:
- win my last game vs Rich the Fish with 3,5 or more
- win my last game vs Rich the Fish with 3-2 and have a huuuuuuuuuuge points difference (which was in fact impossible because we both had chosen a small expansion)

It was pretty clear during the game road and farmer points would be mine.  It was also clear that Rich did much better in scoring cities then I did.  So my fate depended on cloisters and victory on points.  The points, I won thanks to my early farmer in the slowly expanding farming field and thanks to my -for once- 2 extra gold bars.

So, a tie in the cloisters was enough...was it?
Well, Lady Luck vomited again in my face: with 10 cloisters in the game and 8 already played, we were both exactly even in cloister points and we both drew one of the remaining cloister tiles some 10 tiles before the end.  Rich saw the potential, placed it better then me and succeeded in surrounding it better with the last tiles then I did...result: 1 point too short to tie the cloisters and win this league.  The very same 1 cloister point too short in my game against...Rosco!

To conclude:
- That's it! No religion for me anymore! :-s
- Congrats to Rosco for winning this league unless Chooselife succeeds an stunning 5-0 victory in his remaining game vs Rich the Fish!
- Many thanks to Dan's laptop for hosting this game
- A thumbs up for Rich for making it damn difficult for me  :). No really, it was a fun game
- And last but not least: thank you Steve for this fantastic initiative.  Already looking forward to the next one.

Super!  7:30 pm (GMT) is fine, 8:00 PM would be perfect.
I can't host either (i don't know how it works) so
- we find somebody else to host
- OR we take the risk of playing online (I had to replay 1 game in this league thus far)

I might be mistaken but wasn't he a student? I guess he has exams right now then?

I had a 4-1 victory in my first game against JackFace although I lost on points in the regular overall score.  (Championship League)
That was the result of my choice for the Goldmines expansion: I was slightly leading in both roads, cloisters, cloisters and cities but JackFace collected far more gold bars than I did, which gave him an 30-points bonus that led to a 11-points victory in the overall score for JackFace.
So it's possible, but I guess you have to have a special expansion that adds points to the overal score like Goldmines, King & Robber Baron,...

I am free quite a lot this week to play my last two games. Leven and Xanderx12, are you available?
From Thursday evening yes.
I haven’t been following the other divisions. Is the result above the first time someone has gained three points from an overall loss?

I'm pretty sure there have been other 3 - 2s that have gone against the overall points winner, but I don't think I've seen any 4 - 1s as might have been the case if I'd drawn an ffxx tile in the later stages of the game and connected my 0-point farmer to the barn farm.

I'd guess any game with big points bonus expansions like T & B, K & RB or Goldmines could swing the overall victory away from someone even if they did win more points from each of the individual feature types. Likewise, Fairy bonus points, Tower ransoms and Bazaar bids could have a similar effect.
