This is an old tread but maybe someone will see it.
So from the above I  deduce ...
1) If I join this piece to an existing city that has a knight on it I can still claim the cloister.
2) If I lay this piece down (not attached to any city piece) I can put a monk on the cloister then, when someone joins onto that city, they can put a knight down.
Is that correct?

Hello to you all from Brisbane - Home of the G20 2014.
I have read the CAR did a search on this forum but I couldn't find the answer to this situation for Gold Mines which we have only played twice.

Last night the tile with the Gold Bar was placed and the tile itself completed the feature (it was a road).
In referring to the CAR the rules stated:-

When placing a tile and distributing gold pieces, proceed in the following order:
1. Place (gold) tile
2. Place gold pieces
3. Place follower
4. Score
5. Award gold pieces


Since the process was place tile, then gold, then award - we determined that you could finish a feature (place tile) put down gold and then pick it up straight away.
Obviously the person who place the tile put the gold onto the adjacent tile with the finish feature (in this case it was the road). So an instant pick-up of two gold bars.
Have we done the correct thing?  Or must the gold mine tile be placed in such a way as to not finish features.

What a great forum - incredibly helpful for a newbie.  I'm from Brisbane, Australia (Home of the 2014 G20)
This my first post so hopefully all goes well. 
In post 43 kettlefish described the Spielbox Tiles as:-

12 triangle tiles are without special icons.
8 triangle tiles have city segments (4 triangle tiles with city and road segments)
1 triangle tile has a cloister
3 triangle tiles have road segments

My question is about the cloister.
I can place the half-and-half cloister, even without another half and half, and as long as I surround it by 8 tiles I score 9 points (or the normal scoring if I haven't surrounded it by the end of the game). So there can be a triangle hole next to the half-and-half cloister and it still counts as a full tile.
Is that correct?
