Experiment #2:

Also pretty good, though I think the bottom color bar should be a different color than the existing minis.

I was trying to be consistent with them, so I guess I succeeded. I saved the master image with all the layers separated, so making changes is easily done. The hardest part is finding character images.

Looking good. Just to clarify something here, I hope that you realize that you're reproducing covers that don't exist in reality. Those products do not exist and thus the collector can't search and buy them. No game releaser have this. I think that we are loosing meaning here. I ask, are we showing a complete (released to date) Carcassonne collection or are we showing a collection with custom elements? Don't get me wrong, I don't want to be a troll, I'm just wondering...

Scott, I like the image for the plague as a picture for a tuck-box.
But I think if we put such images at the first page from the CAR, the people would think "oh is there a new expansion?".

Split this from the other thread, since I still think it will be fun to make them but they won't be used in the CAR.

Wow! Those are really nice- it's a massive shame they can't be used somehow (at least not by me since I don't use the tuckboxes).

Only criticism is that I agree with Whaley- the colour at the bottom should be unique- perhaps white/grey for Cathars and something else for Plague (brown?)

i really like them and will for sure use them for my tuckboxes, so please go on :-)
(perhaps you could even do some refresh of existing ones like river or count in the design of the new minis)

I thought about that, but it's very hard to come up with ideas for the character images. If anybody has ideas, please post them here. Otherwise I'll end up doing things like GQ11 in the style of the River box.

The count can come straight from the C,K&C cover, the King/baron can come off the king/baron tiles, the river 1/2 could be a fisherman (not sure where the picture would come from)...

You could look up art by the artist used in other games. I forget who does the box art—I don't think its Doris Mathäus—but it shouldn't be too hard to find out.

Ok, here's the Count:

for the little buildings cover you could use the builder of the traders and builders expansion

Scott, would it make more sense to use a silhouette of the Count meeple instead of a crown? I think that will be confusing with the King.

Post by: Whaleyland on February 22, 2013, 12:16:16 PM
The crown is the watermark for the Count, King & Consort expansion, which the Count is included in.

For other art from Doris Matthäus, check http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgamedesigner/74/doris-matthaus (http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgamedesigner/74/doris-matthaus). Perhaps you can find some images there for the boxes if you can't find anything from the actual boxes.

I see. So this box would be used by those that have CK&C and are looking for a tuckbox just for the Count tiles. So using the same watermark makes sense.

Hey Scott, how about one for Corn Circles II?
Title: Re: Fictitious Box Images
Post by: Scott on February 23, 2013, 03:23:07 PM
Certainly!

I also went back and changed the previous box images to have different colors at the bottom.

I like the different colors of the buttons.

The CornCirles -

perhaps you can make the picture of the corn a little bit higher.
And the color of that button could be more different to the corn - perhaps a kind of orange?

The corn doesn't go any higher; there is nothing below the bottom of what you see. The yellow color is official from the HiG web site.

This is what I mean that the corn is more in the blue part:

...i think i would prefer real characters on the boxes instead of meeple - my opinion...

Scott, how about an image for Little Buildings?
Title: Re: Fictitious Box Images
Post by: Scott on February 28, 2013, 06:21:31 AM
I was hoping to do one per day, but the past few days have been very busy. I'll do my best to get another one done tonight (Little Buildings).
Title: Re: Fictitious Box Images

Little Buildings doesn't really have tiles, so a tile-shaped box doesn't make a lot of sense. The building tokens have no watermark, but because it's from Spielbox I used the Spielbox pentagon symbol.

Excellent. Now someone just has to actually make the box. I asked henrysomerset at BGG to make a box for the Little Buildings, but he never replied.

I'm not 100% happy with this, but I couldn't find a larger image of the windrose logo so I had to enlarge it, which makes it look worse.

hey scott,

if you still have your layered file (or higher resolution images you used for these cover) might it be possible that you send it/them to me for personal use?

greetings

Great work Scott! My favourite is probably the one of The Count but that's only because he looks so camp!

I have over 60 tuck boxes by now,
and would never like to do them again,
no matter how good they look.
I did a new box yesterday for the Spielbox Wind Roses (my 65th box I think)
and I am rather tired of making boxes now.

Hi Purity,

The resolution of the images in my layered files are the same resolution as the final image. In some cases I did not have higher resolution images to begin with, but I will send you what I have by e-mail.

Wicke, please share your tuckbox for the Spielbox Windroses!
