Yes that's right, Dan explained that aenimas was unable to continue and RtF was on standby.
I think Dan's very busy today. I would recommend you schedule your game for Sunday if you can and I'm sure Dan will confirm when he's got a moment!

Hi all.

Apologies for being less than my normal communicative self lately. As much as I loved going to Essen, catching up on everything I missed at work while I was away is proving to be far more time-consuming than I'd anticipated.

Regrettably aenima has had to pull out of the competition for reasons that I won't go into suffice to say that he has my full support. Obviously this leaves a space which I'd hoped Rich The Fish would be able to fill, and since Leven has already asked him to step in (he's always one step ahead of me!) and Rich appears to have accepted it sounds like we can continue.

Sorry for taking so long to make this official. Please join me in welcoming Rich on board and thanking him for enabling the group to continue unhindered.

Just wondering if it would be possible to have a sneak peek at the tournament bracket tree diagram, to know or even more fun try to guess my/our opponents for the knock-out stage?

The most probable scheme (at least, in QF) will be: A1-C2, B1-D2, C1-B2, D1-A2, as it was discussed here.

I'm happy to go with what MrNumbers suggested, although it isn't what we did last year:

(left side) A1 vs. B2, C1 vs. D2
(right side) D1 vs. C2, B1 vs. A2

I will consult with MrNumbers and we will decide between us, but ultimately I haven't been keeping track of who is finishing where in each group and would be happy to go either setup as long as:

a) 1st place finishers play 2nd place finishers in the quarter-final games
b) the top 2 players from each group are on opposite sides to each other so wouldn't play again unless they both got to the final

If I may comment on this...

Since we have groups of 6 players, one less would not have a big impact no? Especially since Laura didn't play any games, not sure if she really needs to be replaced. All group members have to play an equal number of games, that's the most important in my opinion.

Or, if somebody decides to jump in, this person should have a very good availability and be able to play all 5 games in max 2 weeks or so... We've been playing for almost 1 month already.

I agree. However, if there's a chance that anyone does want to step in and join the competition at this late stage then I think they should be given the opportunity to do. If nobody is interested then we will just complete the group as a 5 rather than a 6.

I think it's time to announce last call for substitute player for World Cup's group D. For the sake of the progress of the tournament we could close the gate at the end of this weekend. Danisthirty?
