Hi all.

I would like to say Thank you for supporting this auction.  However I must say that some of the items are worth a lot more than is being offered.  I would be doing my charities (And Dan who donated this lot) a big dis-service should I let them go for so little.  I have heard that these can go for as much as £70.  I do not suggest that we need to get there but £25 will not cut it.

So get bidding folks.

Many thanks

Just speaking for the plebs out there (who may or may not have pledged £25): money is tight these days, jobs don't pay as much as they once did in regards to purchasing power, and when it comes down to it, these are just cardboard tiles and wooden pieces. Yes they have collectible value and yes they are quite rare, but some of these are also available with fewer features for cheaper and we can only bid what we are able to bid. I am personally only interested in the novelty of the Leipzig box and set of meeples because I already have the tiles. I don't particularly care about signed/autographed copies of things (like, at all), although the collectors certificate is a nice touch, but that does not in itself solicit a bid from me. The charity aspect is better, but I already donate to several charities each year and don't actually make enough to warrant a tax deduction anyway, so that isn't a major motivator either.

If the amount users can bid doesn't meet expectations, then perhaps this community is just not large or wealthy enough for an auction format such as this to work. I know that's not the most encouraging news, but it's where we're at.

Good for you.

Looking forward to seeing what other items you have in store Rosco. You're supporting some great causes and taking on the UK's peaks is something else!

Thanks for you comment.  I totally agree with everything you have said.  I would rather someone on here gets these items at a reasonable price whilst the charities get some cash than for them to go on eBay.

I am happy to let them sell at less than the eBay price but for the sake of the charities, I think a reserve is needed.

For example, the Liepzig Expansion could sell on eBay for maybe £70 but I am happy for it to go considerably cheaper on here but within reason.

So please bid what you can and if I don't feel it is enough I will add the remaining items as fixed price sales.

Many thanks for everyone's support.

I hear what you're saying whaleyland, but I don't necessarily agree with all of it. You're right that people don't seem to be spending big on anything Carcassonne related these days, but while there are still people in the world who will charge (and get) £100+ for 2 tiles (I'm thinking of Russian promo tiles) or £600 for the base game because it comes in a really nice box I don't think it's especially optimistic to expect more than £25 for very rare items like these that many of us here were getting very excited about not so many years ago. Not least of all because all the money is going to charities.

Great stuff. Did you share news of your auction at CarcF by the way? Or could somebody do so. It seems to me there could be others there who might be interested in some of the things you're selling...

You can be sure, that the members of CarcF are informed. Many of them visit CarcC daily as silent readers. ????

Thank you all for some fantastic bidding

The 2 copies of markets of Liepzig with certificates have sold at £56 And £49.

There are 2 further copies without certificates which have been offered to the next people in line.  If they don't want them or want to just bod on them again, they will be listed here shortly.
