My favourite game is Tzolk'in.
Another that ranks highly for me that someone already mentioned is Hansa Teutonica. I also really enjoy Concordia, Troyes and Santorini.

In common with MeepleDrone I have added Orange and White to the standard 6 colours of C2.

I chose these particularly for the increased options for colourblind players. (Among whom I include myself.)

I like this tile's configuration very much:

This was the first tile that came to mind when I read the subject of the post. I too really like the configuration; just two fields is a neat twist. As well as the aesthetics and game play this tile also represents Carcassonne as a whole for me; 2020 was definitely the year of Carcassonne for me. I bought most of my collection that year and this tile was the 'seal' on my collection.

Another tile that I really enjoy is the C2 Labyrinth. I think the crispness of the detail (on the original tile, if not this low resolution image), something it has in common with the 2020 Spiel tile, is what makes it stand out for me.

Out in the wider world there is a website called boardgamegeek.com. You may have heard of it ... (Users there play other board games!) I know! I know!! Deep breaths ...

Anyway the topic of corner rounding has finally reached the forums there and I've ad-libbed something of an answer here - https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2832419/article/39688463#39688463 - but inevitably I don't know all the fine details ... Which is where you guys come in!

Can you help?

(Anyone who can, please post directly in that thread - scroll up from my post to see the initial conversation.)

Official Rules / Re: Stealing Cities with Phantoms

Let’s take this forum thread to another another another level!

The Bazaar, Tower, Builder, Phantom combo ...
This is a thing of beauty!

And speaking as someone who has played only with the Builder of all the elements you mention I'm clearly still not appreciating the full beauty ...

Is this thing so esoteric that it only exists hypothetically? Or have you actually played such a combo? (Combo, combo.)

+1 merit from me! :)

Cicerunner. No reason to be rude.

Your attitude suggest I am stupid.
I believe you are referring to my replies below. If so, whilst I didn't intend to be rude I was certainly annoyed (for reasons I'll explain in a moment). If my annoyance came across as rudeness then I apologise. To be clear I certainly don't believe you are stupid.

I found your reply annoying because it seemed to suggest that I shouldn't post that I didn't understand the need for the question. I genuinely didn't understand the need for the question and so posting to say so seemed reasonable. To me.

Basing the rules by tile observation is not an official rule clarification.
The person making the observation did not provide an official rule clarification.
Your reply here seemed to go even further by apparently stating that I wasn't even allowed to post my opinion on what the correct way to interpret the tiles was. I didn't state that I was supplying an official clarification and so you telling me that my observations didn't amount to one seemed like you were just trying to shut me down; to deny that my opinion was even worth posting.

Yes I expressed my annoyance by paraphrasing you. (Because I felt I was being told not to post.) I don't believe my original comments were in any way inappropriate and so my annoyance at apparently being told not to post didn't, and doesn't, seem unjustified. But again, I did not intend to be rude nor to suggest that you are stupid. I certainly don't believe that you are.

SO, does the tower base act as a small town, does it cover a road circle, or does it cover a bridge?
Or does it cover a volcano? Or a watchtower?

Looking at 4 of the tower expansion tiles:

I assume that the road on the first tile continues to the city so there are two fields on that tile. As for the other 3 tower tiles; Does the tower base terminate the road segments and divide the tiles into multiple roads and fields?
What other interpretations are there?
Not trying to be (excessively) argumentative but I don't really understand the need for the question.

Straightforwardly there are 2, 2, 3 and 4 fields on those tiles. (Notwithstanding the part of your post that I cut.)

Haha, just realized that you have already announced the project...  :(y)
Wait! What? Where?

A further thought related to a post somewhere back there. Regarding the financial expense of running the site, might it be possible to setup some kind of Patreon or similar so that users can contribute? So the financial weight can be shared rather than borne by just one which seems to have been the case in the past/currently?

My sincere thanks to the admin/ownership team stepping down. I had probably not heard about any of you directly until this thread but I really appreciate the site and the legacy you created.

As for the incoming team, I feel like I know you all pretty well notwithstanding my lacklustre commitment to the Church of Carcassonne in comparison with many/most here. ;) Your presence and enthusiasm has really helped me in my relationship with Carcassonne.

I wish CarcassonneCentral, Wikicarpedia and the admin teams, past and present, the very best

"games with the largest number of unique BoardGameGeek users who have played the game at least once in a [...] month"

That's a really clever choice of data point because it helps offset the other failings you mention. At first I thought it was "monthly play count" which I think I've seen in one of these videos before but that tends to exaggerate currently popular games, short games over long ones and games that "geeky people are likely to log" vs less geeky ones which get logged proportionately less. (All this my subjective presumption but I think this rationale is reasonable.)

Just counting whether a unique user "logged a play or not this month" really smooths the data in terms of highlighting broad, enduring appeal. And that is Carcassonne.

[ Even this awful C2.2 I think is a response to positioning Carcassonne in precisely that place. But that's a discussion for another thread. ]

If you don't want them, you can use them to protect tiles you may send to someone else by mail, for example.
Yeah, that's what I did. I bought a few copies of the Labyrinths to top out my collection, kept the C2 copies and sold the C1 copies (at close to cost via eBay) which I posted in the 'frames' for protection.

News and Events / Re: Carcassonne Big Box with new tile format?
« on: December 05, 2021, 02:23:00 AM »
I was checking the Supplementary rules of the 20th Anniversary Edition and they state that you remove the sbbot in 2. Placing a meeple, then you go to 3. Scoring a feature and score the abbot. Afterwards you score all the other festures as usual.

This sequence is clear in the latest rules of the base game. Let's see the Big Box 7 rules.

This matches what they hinted on discord: no scoring takes plce in 2. Placing a meeple. This then overrides the clarification about the abbot from 3/2015. I understand this approach will also apply to acrobats, the shepherd and fruit actions.
So, in layman's terms, how does this change the current (or what was current) understanding of interactions involving an Abbot and Acrobats?
Feel free to link me to wikicarpedia if it is already updated and explained there!
