Carcassonne.cat invented this tournament format and organized its first tournament for pairs in May 2018. We even edited a video that proves it on youtube:

Later in May 2018, other associations from outside Catalonia copied this tournament format and wanted to make it their own. But it’s clear that the intellectual property of this tournament format belongs to Carcassonne.cat.
We have no problem with other associations, shops, clubs, etc… organizing a tournament for pairs. All we ask is that you make a small reference to Carcassonne.cat as the intellectual author of this tournament format.

RULES

1. The game will follow the basic rules of the Carcassonne game, both in terms of rules and points, with the only two exceptions of points 5 and 7.
2. Teams will be formed in pairs, who will play together all the games they have to play in the tournament.
3. The games must be exactly 4 players per table, 2 teams placed alternately around the table, with the players of each team facing each other.
4. Any communication between the pairs of the team itself, whether verbal or gestural, which may alter the normal development of the game is strictly prohibited.
5. Whoever is the starting player will have to play the starting tile and will be able to place Meeple on a regular basis.
6. Players will play and add points with their own Meeples, as in a normal game.
7. Each team will count as their final score the lowest score of the 2 players on the team. In the event of a tie between the two teams, the highest score of the two teams to be drawn will be counted. In the strange case that there is a multiple tie ... whoever says "Trinco, Trinco" before, will be the winner.

Please feel free to make a comment and share this variant very funny of the game. You should try it!

Official Rules / Wikicarpedia - The City Gates (1st edition)
« on: January 04, 2021, 02:46:48 AM »
Seeing that in quiz 24 the expansion was used, I found that there is only this phrase regarding the interaction with A&M:
-‘ The abbey may also be placed at a city gate. Likewise, the wagon may drive through a city gate when moving, unless there is a farm at the city gate.’

The sentence says ‘drive through a city gate’.
-Could the wagon be placed in a free city gate that didn’t have a free road tile next? If later a tile with a field were placed, the wagon would not score anything and would be returned to its owner for example ... But if a tile with a road is placed it would be to extend the road from the city gate ... The rules don’t say otherwise and the phrase can be interpreted in this way too.

Official Rules / Revisiting The Markets of Leipzig
« on: December 30, 2020, 08:55:21 AM »
Note by Meepledrone: This topic stems from a question about the answer to Question #12 in the Advent Calendar MMXX, where the rules for the Markets of Leipzig where misinterpreted for the Wainwrights quarter bonus.

See original post here:
http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=4911.msg73156#msg73156

In Q12

Quote
* The Wainwrights quarter bonus, since Red can score the bonus right away in the same turn he sends a meeple to Wainwrights quarter in Leipzig. So Red will score 5 points for this bonus (5 tiles x 1 point per tile).

why?  :'(
There is a phrase in WICA that explains it but it is poorly explained since it can give rise to two interpretations in the context of the previous sentence ... But I no longer say anything because I'm tired ...

Official Rules / Castle scoring with mayors
« on: December 30, 2020, 04:38:54 AM »
Note by Meepledrone: This thread stems from a discussion about castle scoring involving mayors.

Question #14: After Danisthirty places this tile, how many points does each player score, if any?

Answer #14: The Blue Abbot scores no points. It was just placed on an incomplete monastery.

The tile placed completes an unoccupied 2-tile road. Nobody scores for the road itself but it triggers the scoring of the castle occupied by the Yellow Mayor. The castle is entitled to receive 2 points for the completed road (2 tiles x 1 point per tile) but the Yellow Mayor cannot score those points since the castle is a feature with no coats of arms.

So the Yellow Mayor will score 0 points for the road but will be able to receive the fairy 3-point scoring bonus. This means that Yellow scores 3 points after all.

Additionally, the completion of the castle occupied by Yellow triggers the scoring of the castle occupied by Red, since the castles overlap each other's fiefs. The Red Castle Lord will also be entitled to score the same 2 points the previous castle was entitled to for the road. As a result, Red will score 2 points.

Notes:
* A key point here is the dissociation between the points a feature is worth and the points a meeple can score. Castles see the points completed features are worth, even if the meeples on them cannot score those points.
* Red will not be able to receive any points from the fairy. The fairy bonus is not part of the scoring of a feature but a bonus associated to a meeple.

Bottomline:
- Blue scores 0 points
- Red scores 2 points
- Yellow scores 3 points
Hahahaha I was waiting for another contradiction rules with no sense hahaha

Quizzes, Puzzles and Challenges / JAPANESE CHALLENGE SOLO VARIANT
« on: April 28, 2020, 04:57:24 AM »
Carcassonne's publisher Mobius Games proposes that we play carcassonne in solitary mode but with specific conditions. On the web, if you click on the blue icon, the meeple to be used and the corresponding tile will appear on that turn.
There are some important changes regarding the official rules and is the tiles are grouped by tile type and not in three random heaps as the official rules. You must try to place meeple with each tile whenever you can and the conditions to end the game are the same. If you can place a tile but you do not have the indicated meeple of the color that the web tells you, the game is over and then even if you place it you do not score if you close something.
You can translate the web without problem. The challenge is until Thursday 04/30/2020 10:00 AM. When you're done, add your hashtag #carcsolo to Twitter and tweet as "67 points". You will find all the information here: http://mobius-games.co.jp/Carsolo/top.html

After more than 10 years collecting carcassonne matching the colors of the tiles of different expansions has been a headache. Surely for many of you too. There are also many who don’t mind mixing the different shades of colors in a kind of color cocktail, but it isn’t my case.
First of all I have to say that 100% homogeneous is impossible but I think that with these tips they may help you when organizing the games and joining the expansions together with the ideal basic game. Visually you will be surprised and I think that many can be very useful. And very satisfying to watch while playing.
Let's start. You will need first three basic carcassonnes of three different colors with the expansions as follows:

-Carcassonne first edition 2000 of HiG (dark green)
-I&C (rare first edition HiG or limited RGG       yellow box 2003).
     -The plague
     -Corn Circles I
     -Windrosen (HiG)
-Monasteries in Germany (Dutch and Belgium Monasteries)
     -Cathedrals in Germany
     -The labyrinth
     -Castles in Germany
     -The cult (spielbox)
     -Darmstadt

-Carcassonne 10th anniversary edition or 2001 edition of HiG (medium green)
-I&C first edition HiG (no watermark)
-T&B first edition HiG (no watermark)
-P&D first edition HiG (no watermark)
-Tower first edition HiG (no watermark)
-K&B first edition HiG (no watermark)
     -GQ #11 (no watermark)
     -The festival (no watermark)

-Carcassonne 2012 HiG edition (light green with some yellow tones) Most common edition.
     -I&C (with watermark)
     -T&B (with watermark)
     -P&D (with watermark)
     -Tower (with watermark)
     -A&M (with watermark)
     -C,K&R (with watermark)
     -Catapult (with watermark)
     -B,C&B (with watermark)
-H&S (with watermark) and River III
     -The Cathars
     -The tunnels
     -Windrosen (spielbox)
     -6 minis
     -River I&II
     -The Count
     -Corn circles II
     -The school
     -Die Belagerer
     -Little Buildings
     -Half & half I, II
     -GQ #11 (2 river tiles)

I hope it is useful and encourages you to play in a harmonious and visually pleasing way. Any opinions or comments are welcome.

UPGRADE 04/2021 (I&C without watermark there is a very dark green version that you can find on limited edition 2003 yellow box RGG or first edition of HiG) (Windrosen has 2 versions, dark green from HiG first version and light green from spielbox second version) (the cathars and GQ #11 can match too with medium green but personally better with light green)

Does anyone know news from Cundco??  :-\

General / In which piece of carcassonne have you spent more money?
« on: April 12, 2019, 08:03:25 AM »
Hello everybody!

I don't know if this topic has been opened in previous posts but I think it could be funny to share our follies that we have come to commit by completing our collection of our loved carcassonne game.
In my case, I got to spend around 100€ for the Müller edition. I know that it may not seem like much, but I've been buying carcassonne expansions and spin offs as they were coming to the market, so spending a lot of money could be said no. Although at the time I didn't get the Müller edition and a few years later I had to pay the consequences. I still have pending the mini expansion promo Darmstadt to get ... but the prices seem abusive ....
