Title: First Ever Post
Post by: Harrystotle on June 11, 2015, 07:38:17 AM
Hi Just signed up to the site. Hello everybody

I got a few questions:
I've got a lot of the main expansions, but a lot of the smaller ones don't seem to be available on amazon. Is there a better place to look or just basically not available?

The only big expansion i'm missing is wheel of fortune is that still available?

Got a bit confused just bought a box set containing 3 mini expansions from z man games Count, king and Robber. whys that called expansion 6? is it possible to get all the other mini expansions? (I got all the Carcassonne minis from 2012

and Got Hills and Sheep, is that the last expansion been produced?

Thanks for all the Help Robert

Hi Robert, welcome to the forums.

I got a few questions:

We just started a thread recently tracking where some of the smaller expansions are available. You can read it here (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=1830.0).

The only big expansion i'm missing is wheel of fortune is that still available?

The English stand-alone version is very hard to come by. The German version is still available (I bought it in a store in German-speaking Switzerland less than six months ago), or there is the Big Box 5 version of Wheel of Fortune, but this is not the complete stand-alone expansion.

Got a bit confused just bought a box set containing 3 mini expansions from z man games Count, king and Robber. whys that called expansion 6?

Four previously released small expansions were bundled together to make Expansion 6. They are the River II, the Count of Carcassonne, King and Robber Baron and Heretics and Shrines.

and Got Hills and Sheep, is that the last expansion been produced?

It's the last major expansion, but smaller ones such as the Halflings and the German castles have come out since then.

"there is the Big Box 5 version of Wheel of Fortune, but this is not the complete stand-alone expansion"

Wheel of Fortune standalone was the base game merged with additional WOF files.  Big Box 5 includes the base game and all of the additional WoF tiles.  It is confusing but HiG did do a good job of including everything.  It also has the now out of print Inns & Cathedrals  and Traders & Builders , 2 of the must have expansions. Plus a river expansion.

Did you mean German castles or German monasteries?

Also I looked up the thread showing where to get all the smaller expansions. I looked on the Carcassonne Wiki page, and it shows a lot more mini expansions which weren't mentioned on this thread ie king and scout, The cathars, The count of Carcassonne, The river 2, The tunnel, Crop circles or am I being a bit thick??

Any help much appreciated

Robert

German Castles was released this year - it will be available again after Essen.

Some of these mini expansions (The Count, River 2) are included in major expansions.

Tunnels, Cathars and Crop Circles are almost impossible to get hold of and not for sale anywhere, except ebay, so that's why they're not included.  Maybe they should be just to help indicate how hard they are to find.  They were all released some time ago.

Both are released but German Castles is the most recent and was only available for a short time this Easter. It will be available again later this year, usually after Essen in October.

King and scout, the count of Carcassonne, and river 2 are all mini expansions in the major expansion Count King and Robber. Although originally standalone expansions they are now difficult to find separately from the major expansion.

As for the Cathars, tunnels and crop circles 1, these are very rare expansions and if you are desperate for them my recommendation is to search for them on the geekmarket at boardgamegeek.com as there's usually one or two rare expansions floating around there if you're willing to shell out for them.

All the best in your hunt!
