And they've tried to put the tiles back in the frames without looking how they would fit in there   ;D

I would advise to be very very very quick on this one
I can't see for certain if the Besiegers are in there, but you can ask the seller. You can always try to ask them to reserve it for you and share extra pictures?

Good luck!

it can always be worth the shot to reach out to the seller and ask if they ship internationally. Often sellers in Germany don't list it as such, but once asked they are happy to do so

General / Re: Is C2 or C3?
« on: January 19, 2022, 06:57:04 AM »
I think that is a great way to differentiate.
As Decar mentioned, the rounded edges are not a good indicator. We've seen this on some C2.1 games, and expansions, and the Mindok version of BB7 does not have them.
It seems that this is more of a publisher/printing thing, that likely started in 2019 (my C2.1 base game with rounded corners is also from 2019)

To me, the main indicator is the art style, which might even be slightly tweaked along the way. Some road corners in C3 have the stone raise, but not all, which is also a tricky call to make.
But i think the best way to indicate a change in artstyle would be the main artists.

The change from the first artwork by Doris Matthäus to the second artwork by Anne Pätzke was very clear. This time, the change to the artwork by Marcel Gröber is maybe more subtle and even gradual, but it could be a great way to indicate where the change started.
To me, this would be as Kettlefish mentioned with the release of Halflings in 2020. You could call it C2.2 if you really want to make a difference between this one and subsequent releases, as Marcel Gröber was the sole credited graphic artist for those, but i've grouped them in C3 in my catalogueing of the game :)

General / Big Box 7: A brand new Big Box with an already long history?!
« on: January 18, 2022, 07:02:45 AM »
The new Big Box has been out for a while now, but with some interesting details!
When it was first released in France and Greece, we quickly noticed several errors in the landscape on the front of the box.
2 tiles were laid incorrectly, having roads not connecting and ending in nothingness...
Also it had several figures placed incorrectly, such as an Abbot on a road, Mage and Witch on completed features, etc.
The German version that has been released, also saw these errors. See the 1st picture.

Updates have been made.
The Dutch, Czech and Italian releases have seen some updates to the visuals. The tiles with roads have been corrected, however the figures are still placed incorrectly.
See the 2nd picture for the release of 999 Games.

Those first 2 versions have been printed like this. My German and French versions have all the errors, and my Czech version has seen the updates.
There has been a new image released by the German publisher Hans im Gluck, which shows all errors corrected.
See the 3rd picture.

When this fully correct one will be released, we'll have to find out. Perhaps once the current stock has gone, reprints will be corrected?

Update:
Nice little tidbit; the promo pictures from HiG on different websites who sell the German BB7, have an image of the 2nd version. So tiles updated, figures still incorrect:

However when you order it, you get the one with all mistakes (as shown in the first picture)

That's a great display for your collection! And some nice pieces, like the Adults of Carcassonne, City cardboard box and all the spin offs to be honest :D
Love to see it all there :D

(which stands for a Non-Dragon-Agreement, as our new rulers don't like to play with that expansion ;) )

Welcome back Scott! Nice to see you back, and doing well!
I'm sure those 7+ hour Skype sessions were needed to start explaining the history of Carcassonne to your wife ;)

I've said before and I'll say it again; this has turned out to be a very impressive and extensive post!
Thank you again for bringing me on board; I loved digging throigh all the boxes and discussing the wonderful rabbit hole of Carcassonne
I also learned new things, but most of all loved to nerd-out on something like this

+1 merit from me too, for making this great write up!

well I disagree, I think there is one source river tile which is different ;)

Worth the price !!!

2 actually, the river lake has a monastery in this one!
So worth getting 2, or 3, or 4!

From what I've seen, most publishers have it as the same as BB2017. Almost like the box art is the only difference. Same article number, same listing on their website, etc.
But we probably want to be able to distinguish between the 2 different boxes, as we also do with base games.
We would usually refer to a base game by its printrun edition, or sometimes by year, so we could do the same for these.
I like BB7, just because it's short. It is silly, to have arbitrary numbers that we assign to the big boxes, but I find it easier to remember than what year they first came out (also as some publishers might be a bit later with releasing it, naming what we call BB2021, BB2022 for example)
And it keeps us busy  ;)
