small riddle about score: German Castles
« on: October 19, 2015, 10:38:58 AM »
Here comes a small picture.
The players forgot to score finished features during the game and all meeple are still on these features. How many points do they get? And how many points do they get at the final score?

This is what I think but there are a couple that I'm not certain about:

Yellow gets 43 40:
21 for the completed road that is shared with red (6 tiles x 2 for the inn, plus 3x3 bonus)
16 13 for the other completed road (5 tiles - including two halflings - x 2 for the inn, plus one 3-point bonus)
6 for the farm

Red gets 35:
12 for the completed German Castle (assuming the square with two halfling tiles counts as 1 point, not 2 points)
2 for the incomplete road (no GC bonus)
21 for the completed road that is shared with yellow (6 tiles x 2 for the inn plus 3x3 bonus)

Green gets 33 36:
18 21 for the cathedral city (including 3-point bonus x2)
9 for the incomplete German Castle
6 for the farm road

Blue gets 13:
6 for the road (3 tiles plus one 3-point bonus, assuming this is not counted as a 4-tile road - the CAR does not appear to address this and it might depend on whether you’re a 1-tiler or 2-tiler)
0 for the incomplete road with inn
7 for the small completed city including GC bonus

Edit: updated with MrNumbers' corrections!

This is 13, isn't it?

18 for the cathedral city (including 3-point bonus)

Aren't there two 3-point bonuses?

Green gets 33:
6 for the farm

Not sure this follower is on the farm. Compare with yellow one - he is clearly on the farm. Green is probably a thief, but he scores the same 6 points.

In everything else I agree with jungleboy.

The green Meeple stands on the road and is not placed on the farm.

the road with the green meeple and the blue meeple - please look at the blue meeple - it is the big one.

This is what I've missed. Then green meeple has 6 points less.

Red 38 (I think gc bonus is always awarded )
Blue 13
Green 30
Yellow 38 (2 halflings together is one point.)

 :green-meeple: Green: 24 (City), 9 (Castle), 0 (Road) = 33 points

 :red-meeple: Red: 21 (Road), 2 (Road), 12 (Castle) = 35 points

 :yellow-meeple: Yellow: 21 (Road), 11 (Road), 6 (Farm) = 38 points

 :blue-meeple: Blue: 6 (Road), 0 (Road), 7 (City) = 13 points

No, GC bonus is awarded only if a feature has been completed:
Quote
If a road or a city that ends (and/or starts) on a castle tile is completed, all players with a majority of followers on the completed road or city score(s) 3 bonus points per involved castle.

My final variant:

 :green-meeple: Green: 21 (City), 9 (Castle), 0 (Road) = 30 points

 :red-meeple: Red: 21 (Road), 2 (Road), 12 (Castle) = 35 points

 :yellow-meeple: Yellow: 21 (Road), 13 (Road), 6 (Farm) = 40 points

 :blue-meeple: Blue: 6 (Road), 0 (Road), 7 (City) = 13 points

The previous answer reflected the C1 rules (short for the classic edition) after the clarifications from 10/2015, where each tile was counted individually no matter its shape. This post shows this rules update for Halflings in C1, now outdated for C2 (short for the new edition):

http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=2125.msg29727#msg29727

But later, HiG provided clarifications with additional changes for C2 (overriding the latest rules for C1 and returning to the original ones from 2014). Here you can see a topic discussing the rules updates for Halflings and double-sized tiles:

https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=5021.0

The image attached reflects both rulesets and their impact on the answer to the riddle.

I kept both!

But needed to remove all the interim rules before the clarifications for C2 from 1/2021.

These clarifications affected the scoring of features including Halflings and/or double-sized tiles.

I also updated WICA so it points to the latest quiz answers at this point.
