Hello!
I'm a Dutch Carcassonne fan and have been a silent reader of Carcassonne Central for quite some time. A few days ago I bought some copies of the Dutch mini-expansion De Kloosters, which consists of six monasteries from the Netherlands and Belgium. As you can see, they differ visually from the German Monasteries. Since I'm trying to complete my Carcassonne collection, I wonder if somebody would be willing to trade a copy of De Kloosters for any of the following mini-expansions:
- The Cathars
- Corn Circles I
- The Tunnel
- Cult, Siege and Creativity
- Any other (non-German) monasteries expansion (I don't know if these already exist)
-
Sorry for the not english part but..
Hoe kom je hieraan ? Zeg maar of het legitieme versies zijn..
Je bent namelijk de eerste met deze info!
Edit:
I found that they are in the new dutch carcassonne version , as a standalone i didnt find them.
So they are legit as far as i know..
Edit2:
Never mind i found them..

i dont want to spoil your trade.. but since this one still is getting printed you should know that some of avlbove expansions are worth a lot more

Wait what? ??? Are there 2 different versions of the monasteries? One German and one Dutch? :o
Where can I buy the Dutch one from? :)
-
I want them :)

Me too quevy! I want them for all countries, especially Italy, France and Spain. Hopefully more come out soon!

It is strange, is it not? that these are simply called "De Kloosters", and not named for a country. If they do that too often it will be impossible to tell which set any one person might be talking about. (And we already have the Cloister vs Monastery issue.)
(I'm not a German speaker, but isn't the word "Klooster" already plural?)

Dutch = Netherlands
Deutsch = German
Het Klooster (dutch) = das Kloster (Deutsch)
De Kloosters (multiple) = die Klöster (deutsch
i only remember 1 word for klooster in our country.. while you have monastery and cloister

Heh, that shows my language naiveté. I was hearing Klöster and thinking Klooster. :-[

To be fair, in English, a cloister is a subtype of monastery, usually focused on monks living in isolation. A regular monastery, on the other hand, is more of a community organization. However, in Carcassonne I think the term monastery is more accurate. Differentiating in English is possible because of the dual words. I'm sure German also has another term that could be used, but it may not be overly common. Convent is also a word we could use in English, which refers specifically to female monasteries (also known as nunneries). Then there are Abbeys, which are simply monasteries over which an abbot presides.

Thank goodness for the word Cloister, though, at least in English. Otherwise both functions of the feature would have the same name in German. That is confusing. I know when I read a post with a question on the "monastery" I have to read it carefully to determine which feature the writer is actually talking/asking about.
And to confuse things further, we now have two Abbots. Yikes! :o

Indeed, Carcassonne now has:
Cloisters/Monasteries
Cathedrals
A Cathedral in the City
Abbeys
German/Dutch Monasteries
Cult Places/Shrines
An Abbot
A Monk on an Abbey
A Monk on a Cloister
An Abbot on a German/Dutch Monastery
A Heretic on a Cult Place/Shrine
Cathars Besieging a City
Did I miss any of the various religious features and followers? So many. I feel like the region is rife with religious conflict!

When we play, we just call them all "kirkko juttu".... Church thingy.. :) So much easier that way... :(y)

How can I buy one of this spare espansion?

Hi supertopix,
You may find the following thread more useful if you're trying to get hold of a copy of this:

I have two copies for sale of the Dutch cloisters/Kloosters. Who wants them? :)

Hi Christianmocking, welcome to the forums.
How much are you hoping to get for these? If it's much more than cost then you might be out of luck as one of the forum members here who is based in Holland has been kind enough to place orders on behalf of others and he is only charging what it costs him to buy them new + postage.
