The Tower - capacity, dimensions, weight
« on: January 24, 2020, 07:27:47 AM »
cundco.de sell the C2 tile storage tower separately (https://cundco.de/en/accessories/90/tower-out-of-the-4th-expansion-new-edition) and I'm thinking of getting one, or two, for both use in play and potentially as in box storage ...

Can you tell me:
The capacity of the tower in terms of the number of tiles held when full
The overall dimensions of the tower when constructed (h x w x d in mm preferred)
The weight of the tower (grams preferred - for postage purposes)

Thank you  :)

Hi there!

Cundo sends you the tower dismounted and folded flat... It can hold around 180 tiles.

Do you still want the precise dimensions?

Sure thing!
The precise parameters (as I have just personaly tested) are:
height=228 mm
width=119 mm
depth=66 mm

weight=114 g

capacity is exactly 100 tiles per column without squeezing anything + 8 tiles on top of each column of the tower. So the tower can potentialy hold 216 tiles if you absolutely max it out.

Keep in mind though that not all tiles have the same thickness and there is also some variation in the dimensions of individual towers!

I hope this helps :)

Ha ha ha!

I was measuring the whole thing...

I have 4 towers (2 C1 and 2 C2) trying to be ready for anything ;D and I never played with more than one at a time. Once I tried a game involving rookie players with 180 tile or so (almost a full tower) and they were exhausted half way through... That's why my second C2 tower is still flat...  ;)

I use Plano boxes for storage.

If you have mega Carc companions, feel free to get any number of towers you need, though.

I have some towers. I decide the amount of towers by the amount of players. Every 2 players a towers. So 2 players shares one tower

I never kept a eye on the time. It depends, 1x base game plus 3 or 4 expansions
The towers aren't full

Ah, OK...  One full tower may imply several hours...

That depends on the played expansions. The towers must not be full. It’s just for comfort to use for each 2 players one tower

I understand you place each tower between each two players with a subset of the total tiles.

I don't leave the tower at a fixed location, but we move it around so players pick up their next tile from a centralized mobile stash.

It would be like a tiered dessert tray of sorts. Please, can you pass me the pasties, sorry, the tiles? ;)
