News and Events / Re: New Spielbox Expansion - "half and half"
« on: October 28, 2014, 05:54:48 AM »
My copy arrived today - I also picked up Spielbox Wind Roses as I decided I needed the slightly different tiles to go with the cundco version. :gray-meeple:

I got my copy of Spielbox 2014/5 from Games Lore in the UK - £5.99 an issue and £2.08 1st Class P&P (or £2.40 P&P for two issues): http://www.gameslore.com/acatalog/PR_Spielbox_2014_Issue_5_English_Edition.html

If you only want the latest issue, with Halflings I, and can wait a little longer - Board Game Extras stock Spielbox issues (the latest one isn't in yet) and have postage for 1 issue at £1.75. The previous issue was £5.75, so the next one could be that price too: http://www.boardgameextras.co.uk/index.php?cat=275&category=Spielbox+magazine (Edit: They have 2014/05 in stock at £5.75 - so £7.50 inc. postage to the UK)

If you're British and want to save a quid or so, then I hope these links are of help :) There are a few other UK shops who sell Spielbox Magazine (or have in the past) but their prices all seem to be a lot higher.

Its a 999 games version and what kind of book?
The book that came with the HiG version of Wheel of Fortune, of course!

The book only comes with the German HiG print, the RGG and 999 versions only have the game box. But if you want the book you can find it easily on ebay.de: http://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_nkw=Das+Schicksalsrad+carcassonne - loads of Germans are trying to get rid of it. :D

The Marketplace / Alternative "Bridges" to use with Expansion #8
« on: October 25, 2014, 08:24:05 AM »
Because I've seen these? I want them now.
Excellent reporting.

The seller has just listed some more "enhanced" wood for Carcassonne... Bridges! ???

Please see the picture below and the link to this item is here: Wooden board game 'Bridge' tokens, solid wood 'ideal for Carcassonne'

They aren't cuter than the ferries - but they are still beautiful. I'm not sure I'm going to get BC&B, but I do like the look of these.

The Marketplace / Alternative "Ferries" to use with Mini #3

I saw these for sale on ebay.co.uk (see the attached picture). Someone has made some more detailed wooden ferries that look great with the Ferries Mini Expansion.
Quite expensive relative to the price of the Mini, but maybe a nice cheap way to enhance your collection?

The Spiel 2014 site did say the would try to make ém available to buy afterwrds. Any1 got any news on that?

Kind regards

I just had a look over it again - They say they will make arrangements after Darmstadt Spielt - This is taking place on the 15th & 16th of November. You are going to have to hold on tight until at least Monday 17th of November.  :'(

As for the rules, here is the original text:
Quote
Hochzeitsturm

Also here's my quick go at translating it (via Google Translate). There are still some stilted phrases, and I'm not really familiar with Catan - but it seems to make sense.

Quote
Hochzeitsturm ("Marriage Tower" - the landmark of Darmstadt, Germany - its image is on the tile)

Game preparation:
The desert tile is replaced by the Hochzeitsturm. The robber thus starts the game on the Hochzeitsturm. The Hochzeitsturm, like the desert it replaces, has no number chip and thus produces no resources.

During the game, the following applies: If a "7" is rolled, the resulting actions according to the usual rules are carried out. Then each player who has a settlement or city at one corner of the Hochzeitsturm, may take the resources of the landscape tile on which the robber is placed.
If the robber has left the Hochzeitsturm tile, it must not be moved back on to it.

40 minutes at the post office and... all packages are in the way to the new owners!
Please, respond on receiving :)

Mine arrived today safe and sound, I had to stop the postie from trying to force it through the letter flap - images of the worst possibilities scrambled through my head as I fumbled to get the door open. All is good though - thank you very much MrNumbers! :(y)

I was also convinced I had seen these around - but I couldn't find any reference...

I made some myself a few months ago - they aren't that well done (a quick photoshop job) but at least they can be found, here's an A4 pdf: (clicky linky). There's also a 250/500 Tile in there - and La Porxada, as I was printing this out at the same time.

I would recommend sticking them on to spare 50/100 tiles if you have them :)

Does anybody know if you are able to order the corrected tile (i.e. the one that was missing a watermark, subsequently corrected in Big Box 5) as a spare part from cundco? Or is buying BB5 the only way to get it currently?

So my mailman bent the issue in half to fit in my mailbox. It ruined the carcassonne expansion, the sushi go cards, and the catan mobil piece I ordered.

Even though it had a huge "Do not bend" on it.

The US postal service is the worst.  :'(

I put in a new order on Saturday and will ship to my work. (Should have done that in the first place)

That's really sad  :'(        Screw you USPS >:D

News and Events / Re: Besiegers and Halflings II now available at Cundco

I wish these cost €.50 less - I could then get another set of stickers! I'll still probably get these today - definitely a Carcassonne themed month for me :)

It's not like stickers are the heaviest item... I think you could ask them to include another set of stickers for the same shipping costs. Sounds like it would be something reasonable to request.

You might be right, I've already ordered now though. I picked up a spare Grey Barn as my original one didn't have the best paint job. I'll get the stickers next time.

You can view the Spielbox special edition for Essen 14 here, if you're interested:

You can also get it from their shop for €1.30 if you need to feel the paper :)

Maybe, I don't need to acquire the German Monasteries now, maybe.

Sounds like you are trying to convince the voice inside you that insists on collecting ALL the things.

Exactly, I have a battle going on now to decide if I need Wind Roses II or not. Why does this consume my life?  ::)
