Hounk (Home) vs. Adrornalin (Guest) 99:75
Adrornalin (Home) vs. Hounk (Guest) 139:69

Both games evolved around a farm battle, which would by the outcome points not have decided the game anyway. But while Adrornalin managed to score at least some decent points to keep the gap comparably small, I scored to few in between the second game,  so he was able to slightly more then double my points. Both enjoyable games nonetheless.

the first game was really terrible ;D not any single tile was useful and additionally I miscounted two type of tiles. the second game went better ;) congrats Hounk!

Farming was the dark art that proved the difference in each game.  A fair tile distribution in each from what I remember.

In theory, I should play against TheSteveAllen tonight.

Carcassonne gods hate me... What can I say, I sent my beloved trophy away.

66 Chooselife (Home) - Merlin_89 93
61 Merlin_89 (Home) - Chooselife 63

I should have won 2nd... Last tile! I led comfortably! WHY? Congrats to Chooselife on not giving up...

Congrats for Jere, as he will clearly top ELO ranking (I'm going way down...).

Jere and I played our round 4 match tonight as Jere has already reported in the above posting. They were two very odd games, in which I managed to lose by 4 points for the second time this week in a game that I thought I was going to win, and in which I won by a flattering margin in a game that I convinced myself I was going to lose.

The battles for the farms in both games made all the difference and I really got upset with myself in the first game having to share the longest road that I have ever built in Carcassonne after what seemed like hours of laying the tarmac.

Well played Jere, and thanks for a most entertaining evening.

Round 4, game 1
101 :yellow-meeple:  Rich_The_Fish (start player) v  98 :violet-meeple:  Leven

A very close game throughout and was decided on the last tile as I managed to get another farmer into play (NE corner) to share the main farm. I did think that the writing was on the wall slightly earlier though when Leven drew not just one but both RFFF right near the end of the game (the first appeared with just 9 tiles left and also ensured his farmer in West joined the farm), to earn an immediate 9 pts x2. However I guess I was a little fortunate he didn't manage to complete his large city in the south as I got the RRCF. A very enjoyable and carefully considered game - thanks.

Another home win:

:violet-meeple: Leven vs :yellow-meeple: Rich_The_Fish 106:62

This time I could win the majority on the main farm (by 5:4) thanks to Rich's trapped knight.
Thanks for the exciting games, Rich.

Match 28: khalidqasrawi vs. glh510

Game 1: 69 - 92 (Home: GLH510)
Game 2: 118-102 (Home: kahildqasrawi)

In the first game khalid blocked 4 of my meeples. So i had to go all in for the big farm. I got all tiles he needed, so the farm was mine.
Second game both of us set there meeple very carefully. At the end i was behind so again i had to go for the main farm. 3 Tiles to go
i placed a perfect buy in. 2 out of 3 tiles suitable for me :-) Kahlid got the other tile. So both remaining tiles are good for me. Kahild managed
to set his tile in a way that he reduced my chances to a 50:50. I used all my luck in the first game ;-)  and drew the wrong one  :(n)

PS: Only screenshot of the first game.

Thanks for playing your matches everyone, and apologies for not doing a better job of keeping track.

I haven't been able to get hold of Marcos for our game despite several PMs and emails so I'm writing here in hope that we can play tomorrow before the round ends...

Anything from Rosco and What If?

Yep, we are unfashionably late, but we played our games today. Final score 1-1 with starting player winning...

My winning game was very close 129-125. I miscalculated the big farm but we split it in the end and I was sure that I´d lost, but I snuck in points apparently somewhere else. I must say that I´ve never felt as outplayed as with Rosco today and I consider my win very lucky. 1-1 feels good.

The first game went my way relatively easily but mostly due to good tiles.

Yep, we are unfashionably late, but we played our games today...

Marcos/ maedac and I were even unfashionably later, but we managed to play our games before midnight which is fortunate as I was about to turn into a pumpkin...

Anyway, both were fairly epic games played via the iOS app. As a rule I'm not a huge fan of the iOS app as it cheats horrendously and never gives me the tiles I want (hopefully Jere will back me up on this). It almost never lets me start either, although it was slightly fairer this evening and at least let both Marcos and I start one game each.

Game 1: Dan (109) - Marcos (105)
The first game (my away game) didn't go my way at all. Even when I was doing my best to trap everything, Marcos utilised a special ability of his to continue growing uncompleteable features to the point that they end up being worth a decent handful of points at the end of the game. So much so that I almost wanted to join back to them even after working so hard to kill them early on! In addition to this, my opponent made some great opportunities for himself with some unstoppable cloisters and fought hard for the farm. I was lucky to take it away from him with my 3rd farmer, but the battle was still being fought elsewhere in the game. With his final tile Marcos tied another smaller farm with me, but since these were points that I was counting on I suddenly became very nervous about which way the game was going to go. I knew it was going to be close, but a win by just 4 points meant I had become very nervous! This win for me could very easily have been a loss and even though I desperately wanted it, I felt bad for Marcos as he deserved it just as much as I did. Very well played sir!

Game 2: Dan (133) - Marcos (82)
I got to place the first tile in the second game and was much more fortunate with the tiles I drew. Marcos was up to his old tricks again and ended up expanding a city I'd worked so hard to kill until it was eventually worth 10 points, but it had capacity to grow beyond even this until I eventually shut it down in a second place too! The outcome of this game was much more heavily influenced by the farms as the main farm where I outnumbered my opponent 3 - 1 was worth 27 points thanks to a few late cities that got added to it. I also had another 2 farmers on a 12-point farm which helped to bring my total up.

I do have some screenshots of the final scores, but they're on my iPad and I haven't worked out how to get them off yet. I guess I can probably email them to myself and then attach via laptop? I couldn't work out how to get a screenshot of the final landscape either, but this doesn't necessarily surprise because, like I said, the iOS app is evil and it hates me.

Many thanks for the games Marcos. I wish you the best of luck for the rest of the competition... :) :(y)

Yep! :D

4 rounds = 32 matches = 64 games all played within the time limits so far! Really pleased with this. Can't thank everyone enough for their continued commitment to the league!

Round 5 will be announced shortly. I just need to close off this round with the final ranking and stats first...

7 tied matches in a single round! Incredible! Let's see what it does to the overall standings:

And here are the all-important stats for the round: :o

3012 total points scored this round and start player win/ loss ratio of 68.75% won against 31.25% lost. Across the 4 rounds that we've played so far, this drops slightly to 62.5% won against 37.5% lost.

Congratulations to Merlin_89 who now holds a strong position at the top of the leader board. It's early days yet though, and there and plenty of others biting at his heels to get ahead of him! Round 5 (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=3213.msg47784#msg47784) is going to be a big one...
