News and Events / Re: 2019 Basegame League?
« on: December 21, 2018, 11:16:24 AM »
Hola,

me gustaría participar.

General / The final battle
« on: October 21, 2018, 02:50:41 AM »
A few days remain to know the name and nationality of the king or queen of Carcassonne. There will be many candidates who, physically in Essen but mentally in the fields of Carcassonne, will fight for the prized honor of leading all the carcassonneras and carcassonneras.

After regional skirmishes and battles for the control of entire countries, the final battle arrives. On October 27 someone will dominate the world, and it will not be Trump or Putin.

Who will it be? From the Plaza de Carcassonne we pointed several names to stand when they all have fallen with the meeples sliding between their fingers.

Favorites:

Pantelis Litsardopoulos (Greece)

He has won two World Cups to date, he has participated in all the finals since 2013 and he is the Gold Meeple. Without a doubt he is the top favorite. Only the pressure he feels to maintain his legend can play against him.

Tomasz Preuss (Poland)

He is the current world champion and the great alternative to Pantelis. To revalidate the trophy, I would also have almost sure the Gold Meeple of 2018.

Martin Mojzis (Czech Republic)

Although on paper, Mojzis may be behind Pantelis or Tomasz to win the World Cup, we must not lose sight of him. In fact, we bet on him. He has extensive experience in the tournament, has also been World Cup winner and never fails to the high places. Why is our bet for this year? Because he should feel less pressure than his aforementioned rivals.

Matej Tabak (Slovakia)

Close the poker of great favorites, Matej Tabak (4th in the Gold Meeple 2017). The Slovak usually falls in the semifinals but the arrival to a final is a matter of time, will it happen in 2018? In addition, like Martin Mojzis, Tabak will have in his favor a lower pressure than Pantelis and Tomasz.

The participation of these great masters of Carcassonne returns to give the tournament a very high level. Complicated will be the four to win but more so the rest of the participants, because just like the immortals, there can only be one!

To consider:

Lorenzo Miguel Soler (Spain)

Every year we have hope in our representative but this year we do believe that we can sneak into high positions. Lorenzo will have against the nerves that can feel to debut in the World Cup but we trust that his age (50 years) will help alleviate this.

Why this year we believe more in the Spanish representative? Lorenzo Miguel has won the first national of Spain with four rounds of 1vs1, including the final. This 2018 we have seen the National most similar to the World Cup and, therefore, logic says that our representative is better prepared than other years.

Absences:

This year we will miss Vladimir Kovalev (Russia), Takafumi Mochizuki (Japan) and Els Bulten (Holland). They already stayed out of the top 5 of the Gold Meeple 2017 and this year they do not participate in the World Cup. Bad times for the three who, not long ago, triumphed in Essen. We will also miss a representative for Australia, a country that is in 9th place in the world ranking.

What will happen in Essen on October 27? Who will commit an error that will haunt you all your life? Who will risk and thanks to that reckless action will conquer the fields of Carcassonne? Who, fruit of the nerves, will see his hand tremble when placing a tile? Who will shake the hand of his rival after winning the World Cup?

Only the meeples know it.

Danisthirty, we've seen that we had a comment from you at the 2016 Gold Meeple.
A pleasant surprise  :) :) :)

Correct. Not sure where I found the link now, but possibly from a Facebook link?

Your photo of Vladimir still isn't Vladimir though. If you contact Carcassonner here, he may be able to provide you with one.

Changed
What it cost to find a picture of Vladimir!
Thanks.

The link?
I do not know. FB, TT, Google, BSK... many possibilities.

Well, good luck for Chile and Hungary.
Maybe we can interview them on the blog, we have already agreed to an interview with the Colombian player after Essen. And during the last months we have interviewed the player from Mexico and the player from Costa Rica  :)

I really just put it so that you knew those players and the "award", being a forum in Carcassonne, I thought you might be interested.
But hey, we can see which players or countries are favorites for you.

This year I bet on the Czech Republic  :)

Sorry for the English. I write in Spanish and translate with Google.

No need to explain, Dan's always over reacting:

 ;D ;D ;D

That was the will of the people.

Taking the example to football, it is clear that a coach of children is of great importance both when it comes to teaching the game and giving values to children. But the prizes are for Guardiola, Mou and other top coaches. Top coaches.

I agree, I've always played Carcassonne very childishly. Childishly.

Nobody has said anything about the way you play. The example of the children was only to say that a trainer of young guys is of great importance but when it comes to giving prizes you see the coaches who compete at the highest level.

Right you are. Apologies for the misunderstanding. So what you are saying is that if I am to win a Golden meeple then I should start to coach children in football, or Carcassonne? ???

1 Be the champion of your country
2 Win the Carcassonne World Championship, not soccer  ;D ;D Every year it is celebrated in Essen

I wish you luck!

Well, it's what the competition has, that the achievements are measured  ;)

In the blog and with Gold Meeple the competition is emphasized :) :)

Hello,
It's a prize that we give from the blog. It started in 2016. Information we gave when we created it  :)

-------

New year, new contents. And from Plaza de Carcassonne we have decided to create the Gold Meeple, a distinction for, in our opinion, the best player in Carcassonne worldwide. Every January we will meet the new Gold Meeple with our Top5.

To give this classification we will build on the successes achieved in recent years at the Carcassonne World Cup. It is important to win, yes, but so is regularity.

These are the best players in Carcassonne currently. At the head, the Greek Pantelis Litsardopoulos, first Gold Meeple.
Gold Meeple 2016

Pantelis Litsardopoulos - Greece

The best player in the world of Carcassonne today. He lost the final in 2016 but his history leaves no doubt.

Since 2013, he has always participated in the World Cup final and was the winner in 2015 and 2013. Unbeatable in the odd years ... he certainly looks forward to this 2017.

Matej Tabak - Eslovaquia

In January the 2018 gold meeple arrives. This was the top of the gold meeple 2017.

Pantelis Litsardopoulos - Greece

Revalidate the Gold Meeple!

Pantelis is synonymous with Carcassonne final. Sometimes he wins, as in the years 2013 and 2015, and other times he wins "the other". The difference is that "the other" changes every year and he is always in the carcassonne.

Tomasz Preuss - Poland

Currently Carcassonne world champion, Tomasz Preuss is second in the Gold Meeple. Preuss, who won five World Cup victories last year but stayed out of the highest positions, represents the great alternative to Pantelis to dominate Carcassonne during the World Cup. next years.

Matej Tabak - Slovakia

If he continues to participate, Tabak will win the first World Cup for Slovakia. For the moment, he usually waits for his final assault on the Carcassonne crown from the semifinals. This year it was in 4th position.

Martin Mojzis - Czech Republic

Never fails to the top positions of the World. He has played several finals being the world champion in 2012. His regularity is spectacular and last year he was at the gates of this ranking. This year he enters the 4th position with his sixth place in the world past.

Davide Sandrin - Italy

Close our Top5, Davide Sandrin. Unknown until now, he has burst into the Carcassonne panorama with his 3rd place in the World Cup. Will it remain high in 2018?

Regarding last year's ranking, Vladimir Kovalev (Russia), Takafumi Mochizuki (Japan) and Els Bulten (Holland) are out.

General / the monk
« on: October 09, 2018, 01:29:41 AM »
In favor:
Meeple recoverable.
In normal conditions it usually gives between 7 and 9 points, a sum that can give the victory in a very tight game.
It can compensate in an easy way several lost farms.

Against:
With experienced players, there are many possibilities of not being able to recover the monk.
There are score limits: 9

Our opinion:
The monastery is a key piece and through it you can observe the skill of a player. Many times, the monks approach the victory but, before great players and according to the phases of the game, it can cause us to run out of meeples.

What else is happening to you about the monk?  ;)
