Saint Nicholas Scoring Board why not Santa Claus scoring board?
« on: November 02, 2019, 11:20:47 AM »
What I don't understand so well is that this board is called 'Saint Nicholas Scoring Board' and not 'santa Claus scoring board'?

Saint Nicholas comes on December 6 and Santa Claus around December 25. Two different figures.
On the score track there is a Christmas tree and a Christmas hat. This is for Santa Claus and not for Saint Nicholas.
For Saint Nicholas, it should rather be a chimney and a mitre.

Hi,

St. Nicholas because it was a gift from HiG for the yearly St. Nicholas Action. In principle you can not find many differences between the outfit. So St. Nicholas wear the same hat. Keep in mind St. Clause is an American figure and not a German.
I hope that helps

Best

Yes, this is a problem that a lot of people have reported as it can really spoil the game for so many reasons. :(

The official ruling is that, when using this special scoreboard, you may pretend that St. Nicholas is actually Santa Claus and/ or Father Christmas and vice versa. Hopefully this will assist with your enjoyment of the game. :(y)

So St. Nicholas wear the same hat.

St. Nicholas & Santa Clause

Not really the same person.
In some villages in Belgium, St. Martin comes on November 11 instead of St. Nicholas on December 6. The difference is that St. Martin gives historical presents to the poor children and St. Nicholas gives presents to the richer ones. They come with the steamboat from Spain and give the children speculaas, mandarins and sweets. St. Martin & St. Nicholas also have helpers. These are the 'Zwarte Pieten'. Santa has elves.

Santa Clause is not really celebrated with us. We know him, but it's not him who gives presents. It's the family members.

The concept is the same. But the story is different.

Hi,

You are right the upper image shows Nicholas as bishop, but that changed for some reasons. Very often they have the same hat.
Nicholas arrives at 6th December. St. Clause 25tth.

I don't know if it happens:

But in Brazil, traditionally, St. Nicholas day (Dec 6th) is the day when we do all the christmas decorations. Including mount the tree, the lights and everything. I think this tradition comes from somewhere in Europe.

The 6th of December is the date Saint Nicolas died. This is where most celebrations come from, to honor his memory.
I never put my Christmas tree up before the 6th of December, as Sinterklaas (Saint Nicolas) is first. Only after that can I start working towards Christmas

In Germany you can start preparing after Sunday of the Death, because it's one week before first advent. Christmas tree follows later. But since some years young people are not longer follow traditions and start before Sunday of the Death. That's, in my opinion, to early.
