General / Re: What's up with the River in Big Box 5?
« on: December 22, 2023, 09:30:33 AM »
very good List, thanks  :D

The River (BB5) dilema is not unique:
true words  :(y)
  • Crop Circles II is Crop Circles, and Crop Circles is Crop Circles I!  :(y)
yeah, thats  >:D
  • Do Halflings I and Halflings II exist, or there is only Halflings? Or Halflings Spielbox and Halflings HiG?
The Spielbox version was called in english Halflings and in german Halblinge;
The HiG name for his own shop edition and also for the Spielbox version was Halb so Wild.........strange
  • Russian Promos I, Russian Promos II, The Choice of Bogatyr and Baba Yaga’s Hut, Hero at the Crossroads and Baba Yaga, Solovei Razboynik and Vodyanoy... ?
The only true names are the russian ones, so none of them mentioned here - there doesnt exist any official translation from neither from Hobbyworld or from HiG
  • Cathars / Siege / The Besiegers or just The Besiegers?
All three: Die Katharer, Die Belagerer & The siege
  • Wind Roses II?!
hmm, both version are originally only windroses... I and II are fan descriptions
  • Monasteries in Germany, Monasteries in the Netherlands & Belgium, Japanese buildings or just Special Monasteries? Also, Dutch Monasteries, Monasteries in the Netherlands & Belgium I, Monasteries in the Netherlands & Belgium 999 Games, Monasteries in the Netherlands & Belgium II, Monasteries in the Netherlands & Belgium HiG, Temples in Japan...
Klöster in Deutschland, De Kloosters (localized 999 Games edition), Dutch Monasteries & Japanese buildings :o
  • The Labyrinth or The Labyrinths?
The first given official german name by Nostheide@Spielbox was "Die Labyrinthe von Carcassonne!"
I dont know why HiG caled it later in the extended rules the Labyrinth (Das Labyrinth)
  • And there is only one The Festival, nobody cares about the number featured on the tile, be it 10, 15...
Agree

* My answers are refering only to C1
** My descriptions are from the official german rule-sheets from HiG and from the rule-sheets and descriptions in german spielbox magazine.
*** CundCo tilelist is fanmade, it doesn´t count as valid source, in my opinion.

And now here the final boss:
 :o Games quarterly expansion, games quarterly no.16, Games quarterly expansion no. 16, the mini expansion,
Carcassonne GQ Promo Tiles....and so on
I gave up on this...
::)

Maybe we should just admit that there is no real name for it  :P
..... or maybe >12 New Carcassonne Game Tiles Inside> is the one and only true name  >:D

The only valid (and maybe weak) argument for me to call the river from the BigBox V river III are those added unique specific functions for the 9th. expansion, mentioned by @lr

However, the river (III) expansion symbol does not count, as HiG decided from 2006 onwards, with the release of the first BigBox, that all expansions would receive such an exp. symbol.

We can of course speculate - and with a high degree of probability this could be true - that the first river was only called River, as no further rivers were planned.

And regarding the "official" cundco-store tile list, someone should talk to @maik63de  and ask if he has discussed the name with the HiG or the CundCo team -
I'll "go out on a limb" saying no ;-)

@Scott
Does this "idiom" also exists?
 :neutral-meeple:

The shop display is purely a display box that shops could use for the dice game.
It holds the actual game tins.
These displays had been made for Phantoms, King&Scout, the 6 Minis anf the Count of Carcassonne as well. Those are all easier to find, but it seems the ones for the Dice game have not made it to the free market as much. Perhaps as it is a bigger display than all the others?
Here's a picture of one:

@Willem  :(y)

could you send me the same picture, but without the dice games inside & could I use that for me search inquiries?
Too many people are thinking that I am searching the tin boxes

This may be fan-made, but it's the "official" document for ordering tiles on cundco...  ;D

ok, if we now stick exactly to the tile list in the store, then I never want to read river 1 anywhere again ;-)

Please don't take this too seriously - I also call the "new" old river River 3 because it's a logical list - but the tile list as an argument stands on "very shaky ground"*.
I suppose, that the descriptions in there were by no means discussed with the publisher.
But you can ask @maik63de or Andreas from the shop - and next year on the Spiel we could also ask Moritz   "haha"

* I suppose this german idiom doesn't exist in English, does it? :-)

PS:
An additional fairy tale  >:D about the "Plättchenliste" on the shop:

Russische Sonderplättchen (Russian special tiles)  ???

Of course, the reference to Russian versions does not count as an argument, as these are independent Hobbyworld products.

In the Plaettchenliste, it's River III   ^-^:

https://cundco.de/media/pdf/47/c4/91/Plaettchenliste.pdf

The terminology in the "Plättchenliste" ist from German Fans from carcassonne Forum - the formerly Forum Admin and founder Maik itselfs adopted this for his tiles list and HiG use this list for the  CundCo online shop.

River 3 is simply a fan designation that neither bgg nor its german counterpart spiele-check have adopted.

Incidentally, I also call the BigBox river fluss III, although there is a lot to be said for not calling it that
For example, in the official German BigBox rules it is simply called Fluss - identical to the Mini: der Fluss, or the Fluss CundCo-shop edition in the punched sheet.

Update: I had issues writing messages here so my message is now partly too late and @DIN0  has already said the same thing in slightly less detail.

@Willem  also correctly mentioned that also river 1 is just a river ;-)

Dear Carcassonne friends,

for an empty shopdisplay of the carcassonne dice game, I will exchange (almost*) everything from Carcassonne, depending on the condition of the display.

@Willem: Thanks for poviding an image from your empty dice game display!

(*Exception(s): Santa Claus scoreboard, the mediaeval carcassonne book, prototypes, original graphics & things I didn't know about myself ;-))

Have a nice Advent season!

:D

@ma_Rysia

Regarding "boxed tower - with watermarks".
Box Sealed, ergo unopened?
Box opened, tiles in punched sheets?
Box opened, like new but punched out?

@aenima

JEM have said they will upload the PDF to their website,
Hi BigBoss, have you seen the pdf added to the JEM website?  My language skills (lack of) are hindering my searching.

I have my own version - but I am aware of the file from Jems website.

@Amorpheus
sorry, but as @Willem and @DIN0 correctly stated, this is not the edition with the 70 score track, because of the SdJ Logo.
