Meeple Tile Tower - a small contest
« on: August 13, 2015, 09:45:21 AM »
A small contest: Meeple Tile Tower

Build a meeple tile tower - start 3 meeples - a tile - 3 meeples - a tile and so on.
Please use the standard follower and landscape tiles.

Who will build the highest tower?

This game is a part of Carcassonne-on-Tour (CoT). At the CoT events the people have 3 minutes time to build such tower. It would be nice if you tell us how long do you need for your own meeple tile tower.

At CarcF - we run a simular contest.

One of the members said - build a tower like the tower from Pisa.

at the button 2 standard followers and one big follower, landscape tile - 3 standard followers - landscape tile - 3 standard followers... and so on...

This one was my wife's just before it collapsed.

And this one was mine.

(Bear in mind this was outside on a table that wasn't fully level with a fairly strong breeze. )

Another attempt later.

That was quite high built. And outdoors, no wind? Looks like you guys are having a lovely weather.  :(y)

Crazy winds here, but sunny. We're off later (5pm) to the lake for barbeque and swimming. Gonna be cold in the water so brining some alcohol.

But I will definately have a go building a tower some day soon, looks fun and definately challenging!

Edit: I can't help but notice that Dan (blue) and I (yellow) are in the background as blurry flowers.  ;D

There is a bit of wind.  Enough to topple a tower.

Marias' tower was 13 tiles and mine was 23 I think.

My first try resulted in 13 tiles before coming down. (Have no photo.)

One thing I noticed was that my meeples are different in sizes. The standard followers. They differ circa 1 mm in height. Since all my meeples are mixed together, except for the unopened boxes of course, I can't tell which is which.

Easy workaround is easy, though. Just compare and match 3 meeples before deploying them.  O:-)

Note to self: Build on a larger table that is not wobbling.  ;)

Thanks Rosco for your nice photos of your towers. How much time did you need for your tower?

I like to see some more meeple tile  towers.

Had a quick go at this earlier. Admittedly I didn't fancy the challenge of attempting it outdoors on a wonky table with it swaying in the wind (unlike Rosco and Paul), but I did have a beer earlier so my hands weren't exactly steady! Still, I managed 16 tiles but ran out of meeples in the end - think I'll have to try it again when I've got some additional ones.

Who fancies 2-meeple per row?  You could go 33% higher ;)

...if only!!
I'm pleased that I took this photo when I did - the tower collapsed before I could get another layer finished! To save you counting, it was 19 tiles high with just 2 meeples per row. This method meant that the tower was a lot more wobbly than the earlier attempt, but I reckon that I could go higher. So, seeing as I still had some meeples left I'll give it another go tomorrow.

I was away on holiday (without Carcassonne :o) so haven't attempted this yet. I will certainly be giving it a try later on though.

Merit for everyone who has already tried this and posted photos, well done! :(y)
