THIS THREAD IS NOW DEFUNCT: GO TO: https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=6059.0Most of you know we have been using a public IRC channel for quite sometime to organize gaming sessions, league and other bits and pieces.
Though it serves us quite well, I've been playing with Slack recently and decided to create a Slack Team just for us to try out.
One advantage is it can be used by lots of different devices (including mobile) and Slack supports multiple channels, which means we can separate certain topics (like news, league, playnow).
Once you've signed up you can post messages for others to see when the join the channel.
I think this might be quite helpful for scheduling games, because you can check if people are active, and leave them messages in case you missed them. It also tells you people's local time zone, which is handy! Generally it's a lot more stable than IRC too.
Some more benefits are: It also supports Direct/Private Messaging and lets you upload images and files.
Anyway, I thought we could experiment with using it - for the moment you can request an invitations to join the Team.
I created a URL you can use to receive an invitation:

https://carcassonnecentral.slack.com/Please consider using the same screen name in the slack as you do on here too, so we know who people are!
Look forward to seeing you on Slack!
