Title: Carcassonne-Forum - CarcF - News
Post by: kettlefish on July 04, 2013, 12:01:13 PM
I make this thread, because the German Carcassonne-Forum (CarcF) was grown up during the last months.
CarcF was born in the downtime from CarcC. Maik (maik63de) talked with Moritz Brunnhofer at the "Spiel 2012" in Essen about his thought to make a German forum. Some days later we were online with CarcF.

Some historical information:
We German only have had in the years 2008-2012 the "HiG-Chat". That is the comments function at the homepage from HiG - Carcassonne. There you can't modify your post also you can't search. The HiG-Chat is not really comfortable.
In 2010 the people at the HiG-Chat like to make an own German forum, but no one says: "OK I will be the admin..." The people like to have the forum direct from HiG - but the people at HiG have no time for such things.

The years before (the end was in 2008) we had the old homepage for Carcassonne. We asked the people about rules questions and got the answers. I think Georg Wild was answering. That means we didn't need any forum, because we had this side.
Matt Harper translated the old FAQ's from German to English in the past for CarcC.

We have at CarcF a thread for news about CarcassonneCentral (CarcC).

Here is the link in "Aktuelles - News":

CarcC News (http://www.carcassonne-forum.de/viewforum.php?f=153&sid)
This thread has more information for you if CarcC is not online.

Both forums are working together. We are all a community for our beloved game Carcassonne.

You can find the carcassonne-forum at:

(the people from Asia can't look at CarcF.)

I checked it out. Looks great...now I've just got to translate it. Seems I need to just learn German to make this easier.

Maik (maik63de) - Admin at CarcF has created a separate forum for the English speaking world.
Especially for the members at CarcC and CarcF. This forum is open, that means all the people can look at it. The members at CarcF can also post there in English if they like - no problem.

We have also a hidden forum there for the CarcC-BigOnes.

At the moment there is not much information, because I will transfer some of the postings from the German side to the English side - but that need some time.

Here is the link:
English area - Englischer Bereich (http://www.carcassonne-forum.de/viewforum.php?f=149&sid)

We have there following open forums:
News:
- CarcC News
- CarcF News
- CarcL News

General:
- Introduction
- Rules questions
- Links to CarcF workshop area & download area
(guests at CarcF can see the links, but to follow the link then they need to log in as a member at CarcF.)

-----------------------------------
There are around 65 members at both forums CarcC + CarcF.

Thanks Marion. Checked out www.carcassonne.lv. I'm curious about the large pic in the middle of the page. Are all of the tiles print-and-play versions, or is this how the Latvian publisher's tiles look? Maybe MrNumbers can weigh in on this. It's quite a different look than I am used to. (Translating the page may answer this, but I haven't found a quick way to translate yet on my iPad...there's no "right-click" option.)

:red-meeple:

Why is CarcF not reachable?

The problem is with the server, here the message:

Rate
Delayed availability of network interference

currently it comes because of redirects a cable to a network node in the data center to a negative impact of accessibility.

Specifically may occur from time to time to packet loss - i.e., that requests are canceled or does not properly handle. We assume that this disorder soon is fully resolved.

I made a backup of the database even shortly before the server problem...

www.carcassonne-forum.com

----------------------------------------------------------------------

At 29.08. we had a server failure.
To continue to be available, there's our copy-forum www.carcassonne-forum.com. This forum is open only if this forum should not be accessible.
I am constantly trying to keep the database up to the current, so nothing is lost to us.
Please listed or linked to you the URL of the alternate forum:

Hi gantry,
we have for the CarcF forum two different provider and that means we have two different server.
That forum runs regular at bplaced.net.
But if bplaced doesn't work - we are switching easy to the other provider during the downtime from bplaced.net.

Important is here that Maik is making his own backups from the forum and the database, because our "Copy-Forum" has also up to date if possible.

Hi gantry,

thank you for your sympathy ...

That is why we have a "copy forum" on another server. I make a daily database backup and save it to my computer.
If the regular main server is not working right, I load the backup to the another (copyforum) and then CarcF is online again.

At CarcF we have almost finished our first collaborative Workshop project:

A fan-expansion for the 50th birthday of Klaus-Juergen Wrede.

Here is the link to the Workshop at CarcF (only for members at CarcF):
Geburtstags-Erweiterung fuer Klaus-Juergen W. (http://carcassonne-forum.de/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=973&sid)

At page 16 you can find the pdf for the land scape tiles (10 Landschaftskarten mit Geniesser Motiven),
the tokens, the cover, back of the starting tile and a link to the starting tile.

At page 17 is the lastest version of the rule (in German - we didn't translated the rule in English yet.)

In a short time the fan-expansion will be finished and you can find it in the downloads at CarcF.

At Spiel 2013 in Essen we will give this expansion to Klaus-Juergen Wrede.

Here is a picture of some items from this fan-expansion:

I don't know what you meant.
Maik has finished all the links in the own CarcF forum, but I have to change all the links here at CarcC because I use here many links to threads to CarcF.

maik63.bplaced.net is now not any more online.
(we will use maik63.bplaced only as a "second" copy forum)

But he has no rights here at CarcC to change the links here at CarcC - he can't modify the postings here at CarcC.

At CarcF he has finished all the links...

Title: Re: Carcassonne-Forum - CarcF - News

He should be able to put some code on his server maik63.bplaced.net which will read the old links to the forum and automatically redirect them to the new forum. I've done this lots of times in the past when I made a new web site for a company. The idea is that you would then not need to modify links everywhere that you don't have access to change.

Purity,
it's a good idea, but I have no technical knowledge, and Maik can't understand enough English and all what I have found out at Google seach - it should be more work to write for each posting, each thread, each picture at CarcF such a "301 redirect".

Maik adwise for the members is that each of the members has to change the links in their postings to the correct new forum. We have at CarcF actual more than 10.000 postings and more than 800 pictures in the gallery... And how should he know where the members used in other forums (CarcC + BGG) a link to CarcF?
Title: Re: Carcassonne-Forum - CarcF - News
Post by: Scott on January 16, 2014, 05:14:32 PM
It is not necessary for Maik to write a separate rule for each file. One rule can take care of everything:

Code: [Select]
//301 Redirect Old File
Redirect 301 http://maik63.bplaced.net/forum/ http://www.carcassonne-forum.de/

It looks like he may have already put this rule in place. When I tried to go to a thread on the old forum, it redirected me to the new one.

For some reason I am unable to log in. When I try to log in, it says I am successful and my name appears at the top of the page as usual, but as soon as I click on any link (such as the board index) I am automatically logged out. Even if I don't click on anything after logging in the page refreshes after a few seconds and logs me out.

It is not necessary for Maik to write a separate rule for each file. One rule can take care of everything:

Code: [Select]
//301 Redirect Old File
Redirect 301 http://maik63.bplaced.net/forum/ http://www.carcassonne-forum.de/

It looks like he may have already put this rule in place. When I tried to go to a thread on the old forum, it redirected me to the new one.

Hi Scott,
I looked at this yesterday and I have put this rule in the right place and really it works!  ;D

Gruss Maik

For some reason I am unable to log in. When I try to log in, it says I am successful and my name appears at the top of the page as usual, but as soon as I click on any link (such as the board index) I am automatically logged out. Even if I don't click on anything after logging in the page refreshes after a few seconds and logs me out.

Ich hoffe, dass du dich nun einloggen kannst. Wenn nicht, melde dich nochmal.

Gruss Maik

I hope you can log in now, if not please inform us again.

Here in Germany is still the 2nd of December. So you have to wait for the next door...

Did you look into the first and 2nd door?

Definitely! Though I don't actually like the Winter Edition 1.0 all that much. The snow was too...computerised.

Maik asked HiG if he can use it.

He got the permission from Moritz Brunnhofer - HiG - to use it for the advent calendar.

That's a shame you don't like it, I really enjoy the artwork on the Winter edition. The snow in the pictures of the advent calendar looks almost too realistic!

You can print it as a Winter Edition, but I think you have to look at the calendar every day until 24 of December. Under the picture is a link for the different variations of that tile in better quality.

The German Carcassonne-Forum will get a big update with a new layout.

In the next few days we have the Copy Carcassonne-Forum online. There you can see the new design.

The new forums software has also a chat - mChat - it is more for a small talk and not for Carcassonne rule questions.

Here is the link to the "Ersatz Carcassonne-Forum":

Does Maik still have Problems with the new CarcF?

Since yesterday I can't reach the website anymore and neither can I see his short message when I try to go to carcassonne-forum.de

I guess he faces some bigger issues... However I wonder why the Ersatzforum works...

Still, I wish him all the luck and success I can imagine for resolving the issue!  :(y)

The Carcassonne-Forum  (CarcF) doesn't work since a few hours.

I have only an Error message when I try to use the link for the CarcF forum.
