CorporalRutland:
Hi everyone,

Hope you're all keeping well. Per the title, I seek the above two expansions for shipping to the UK. Happy to agree terms via DM or here as you wish.

Thanks

Meepledrone:
Just for the sake of clarity, are you looking for the standalone version of the WoF or the version included in Big Box 5?

Also, the standalone version is available in German, English and Dutch for example. There is also a Russian version, but this has different tile backs. Any preference just in case anyone has a copy available?

In any case, you may find some copies online of the standalone version on these second had sites (you will have to negotiate the shipping):
* German: There some offers with and without the book mixed with some offers with the book only.
   https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-carcassonne-schicksalsrad/k0
* Dutch: Several offers
   https://www.marktplaats.nl/q/carcassonne+fortuin/

The prices on eBay are crazily high...

Thanks for your reply!

Pardon my ignorance: what is the difference between the standalone and the version in BB5? I would be after solely the unique content, I wouldn't need any further base game tiles. I would prefer backs with the Latin 'C' rather than the Cyrillic 'K'.

I tried using Marktplaats but sadly can't as I have a UK phone number.

Whaleyland:
Stand alone is 72 tiles plus a language-dependent starting super tile (a 4x4 grid with the wheel). All tiles have the wheel watermark and 19 tiles also have a numbered wheel icon. All but 12 of the tiles are from the base game—the remainder are basic tiles from the first two expansions. I’d definitely consider it the superior version and I have both.

The Big Box version has a base game set of 72 tiles (unusually with a 72nd tile that doesn’t have an inverted back) and a 12 tile ‘expansion’ which has wheel watermarks, as well as a language-independent super tile. The 19 numbered wheel icons, though, remain on their original tiles, regardless of whether they are in the 72 base game tiles or the 12 expansion tiles. So basically, you get a strange base game / Wheel of Fortune hybrid of 84 tiles, 12 of which have watermarks and 19 of which have numbered wheel icons.

What I’ve done since the beginning is set aside the 19 numbered wheel tiles from my standalone expansion and use it as an expansion to the base game, throwing in the remaining basic tiles when I want a longer game. It works well. I would definitely recommend tracking down the Rio Grande standalone expansion if possible, although a benefit of the Big Box 5 is that it also comes with a special version of The River 1 featuring sheep and a vineyard from Expansion 9.

Meepledrone:
The standalone version is a both a full replacement for the base game of Carcassonne and an expansion to the original base game. It includes 72 tiles, consisting of 63 tiles released in the original base game, 6 from Exp. 1 - Inns & Cathedrals, 1 from Exp. 2 - Traders and Builders and 2 from King & Robber (included later in Exp. 6 - Count, King & Robber). All the tiles are marked with a wheel as an expansion symbol. It has no CRFR start tile with a dark back.

Big Box 5 include a full base game with no wheel symbol but 9 tiles include symbols with numbers 1, 2 or 3. Additionally it contains the WoF as a 12-tile expansion marked with the wheel expansion symbol. It also includes an extra CRFR tile with regular back to replace the standard start tile.

You can find a great post by Just a Bill including a fully detailed comparison here:

If you want to compare the tile distributions, you can check this page (the images of the standalone WoF do not include the wheel symbol - still have to find some images for that):

Hope this helps!

EDIT: Ha ha ha! Whaleyland had already replied while I was editing this...  :o
