awesome jere¡¡¡¡
I would love to live a similar experience ( not to win but to participate in a tournament with similar carasteristicas )
I give you my congratulations .
is a beautiful place in the photos.

There was a special rule for this tournament that I had never tried before, and I really liked it! Players had to choose from 3 face-up tiles layed on the table instead of picking a random one. I believe that it reduces a bit the luck factor and increases the strategic aspect of the game.
I would like to test this rule.
A few months ago my girlfriend and some friends tried a similar variant.
before starting the game each player grabs three tiles and in turn places a tile.
well throughout the game you can choose a tile of the three that you have on hand.

When you lose, do not look at what you lost, but what's left to win ..

Or perhaps it could be played with 3 tiles face-up in the middle of the table with the rest of the tiles in the bag. On his/ her turn each player could choose to play one of the face-up tiles (replacing it with a new one from the bag afterwards) or simply take one from the bag and place it. I look forward to trying this out next time I play...  :) :(y)

Beautiful outdoors location spots.

I'd like to see more photos such as these from where everyone is right now. Go out and take a photo or two and post them in a new thread called Photos where I live. I'll be sure to do the same!

I'm at work so my view is of a car park. I don't think anyone would particularly wish to see a photo of this!

I am a bit late to this thread because I've been travelling but merit to Jéré from me too for his excellent description. And good luck again in the next stage!

And good luck again in the next stage!

Maybe you skipped the last paragraph.  I wrote that I won't go to Paris to avoid a diplomatic imbroglio.

Whoops! I read it a few days ago and I guess I did skip or forget that last part. Sorry to to hear that. You'll have to try for the Canadian or Dutch championships instead!

Ok, this is getting very interesting. I had sent an email to organisers of Ludinord (where I qualified), of Paris est ludique (where the championships will be held in June) as well as to Filosofia, the French publisher of Carcassonne. I basically wanted to know if I could participate and I just received their confirmation: "Perfectly admissible", a representative of Filosofia answered!  :o

So I will start looking for train tickets and hotel in Paris.  8)

Excellent news; it's good to see there's no politics or bureaucracy stopping you from participating; at the end of the day you're clearly bringing something to the French table ('table' I guess).

Looking forward to hearing how you do!

Just noticed that they no longer call it the French National Championship but rather the "Finale Francophone" which means the French-speaking final.

If I'd known that, and if speaking French badly counts, I would have participated :)

Probably reconsidered the name after your emails. ;)
