Excellent. Hopefully this will be enough to help him work out what's going on with it.

I've uploaded a short video here: (it says it's still "processing" but it seems to work for me)

In it, you can see me completing a city towards the south of the landscape. It includes one normal follower and one phantom (and a builder) belonging to blue (me) and a wagon belonging to green (jungleboy). I place one tile and am given a bonus turn. On my bonus turn I complete the city. I am then prompted to place the green wagon and neither player can continue until I skip this.

Hopefully this demonstrates the problem sufficiently.

PS - Although it's only minor, you can also see the problem with the chat function in this video

World Cup of Carcassonne Central / Re: World Cup - Knock-out Stage!

Perhaps farin will be able to find a solution to the wagon problem before you're due to have your match but this is probably a little optimistic. You could postpone until it is fixed but I couldn't guess how long that might take.

Since it's between the two of you at this stage I see no reason why the list of expansions couldn't be revised as long as you are both in agreement on the final set of expansions used. The idea was to make the games bigger as the rounds progressed but this doesn't need to be the case if you're happy to settle for less tiles. So, ultimately it's up to the two of you how you want to play but I would recommend replacing Abbey & Mayor with something else if you can both agree happily on the replacement. Perhaps Corn Circles and The Besiegers instead?

Congratulations guys!

Just to recap, here is the list of expansions to be used for the final:

-   River 1 + 2
-   Inns & Cathedrals
-   Traders & Builders
-   Abbey & Mayor
-   The Phantom

(MrNumbers starts because of highest score differential)

May the best man win, and please report back here after your match to let everyone know who the champion is!

Also, although the way Abbeys play out in the proper/ physical game works well, it’s a pain on JCloisterZone having to skip placing your Abbey (if you still have it) at the start of every turn if there is somewhere it can be placed. This isn’t a complaint as such as I can’t see how else it could be implemented, more an observation I suppose.
Why not have the Abbey appear as a legal piece to be placed, when appropriate, along with the follower, wagon, barn, etc?  It can be an icon on the row of available pieces to place.

Welcome back Robert.

The problem with this approach is that you need to be given the option to place your Abbey before your tile has been drawn. It’s not an alternative to be placed if you don’t like the drawn tile, it’s an alternative to drawing the tile in the first place.

Monwil and I have played a couple of games with several expansions, and the issues with the wagon, and the interaction between the dragon and the builder, are getting to be rather annoying.

When you are sitting side be side in the same office it is not hard to deal with.  However, I would not want to be facing these issues when playing someone elsewhere in the world.

Hopefully farin will get round to these soon.

Be careful; that's a dangerous game you're playing! I did the same thing once and all my tiles became completely unusable immediately afterwards as a result. Some turned to brick, some to wood, some to ore, some to wheat, and some to... sheep.  :(

Seriously though, a quick shuffle together on the table followed by a thorough mix around in the bag is normally enough to ensure things are as random as necessary for me.

Perhaps you could post some pictures to demonstrate this ground-breaking new development in meeple fashion?  :)

I take it he is not a member of the forums? You should persuade him to join so he can take part in the next online competition!

I know what you mean about it being tricky to tell the difference unless you're watching very closely. I always wondered if it was supposed to be this way or whether it's just down to trying to make the mega-meeple bigger, but not too much bigger on account of production costs. Same with the mayor to some extent.

Ha ha. That would be a neat idea if such a thing existed!  :)

The bag does just fine for me...

It looks like it was a well organised event. Shame we can't have something like this in the UK...  :(

It sounds as though you were unlucky to lose the semi-final on the last tile of the game. Finishing 3rd is still a great achievement though - well done! Hopefully it will be 1st next year so you can attend the world championship!

Did you get to meet Udo Schmitz?

Great report, and a really interesting selection of expansions too! Well-deserved merit for you...  :(y)

I see you included King & Robber Baron. Did you count up all the complete cities and roads afterwards for whoever won the King/ Robber Baron tiles or did you just decide on a set number of points before you began? I think trying to count them all may have added an hour or so to the game time!

This is a neat idea but unfortunately my house is already awash with loom bands as my wife and daughter are rather fond of them. If loom bands made it into my Carcassonne collection then I'd have nowhere to take refuge from them...

I once used the frrr tile from A & M to do just that. My wife was not happy!

This will give the player the option to reuse these followers again much earlier if running out of them in stack, which I think is far better than adjusting the scoring.

You're too soft!  :)

I think there are already plenty of ways to get followers back (Dragon, Tower, Plague, Festival, Crop Circles etc) albeit without scoring any points in the process. If you're abandoning a feature you previously decided to claim though, I don't think you deserve any points.

An important part of playing Carcassonne is managing your meeples and making careful decisions as to what you're going to claim. I suppose you could have a house-rule that allows you to take a monk back but I kind of like that if you're running low on meeples you make completing that cloister your priority (and usually everyone else tries to stop you)...
