I have tried to contact Marcos, don´t know what to say, I am awaiting a response.

Thanks for playing your matches everyone, and apologies for not doing a better job of keeping track.

I haven't been able to get hold of Marcos for our game despite several PMs and emails so I'm writing here in hope that we can play tomorrow before the round ends...

Anything from Rosco and What If?

Yep, we are unfashionably late, but we played our games today. Final score 1-1 with starting player winning...

My winning game was very close 129-125. I miscalculated the big farm but we split it in the end and I was sure that I´d lost, but I snuck in points apparently somewhere else. I must say that I´ve never felt as outplayed as with Rosco today and I consider my win very lucky. 1-1 feels good.

Anything Else / Re: You should never go to IKEA
« on: February 09, 2017, 01:54:21 PM »
Well.... since I'm pretty much responsible for this thread let me put this out there and sorry for the long post:

I FRIGGING LOVE IKEA O0 :P

Love, love, love your passionate defence of IKEA. Merit from me too! :)

As I've said, my biggest problem with IKEA is that I just don't like the style of the furniture. But that's just a personal viewpoint - IKEA seems wildly successful so it looks like a lot of people think it's great.

And I'm noticing more and more lately that there are a lot of things apart from IKEA that other people like a lot that I don't like at all. But to avoid opening a can of worms and a lot more spin-off threads, I won't list the others here.

In any case, my overall point is that I'm the weirdo in the whole IKEA discussion.

If there's good opportunity to blame jungleboy for something though, I'm completely behind it. O:-)

Well played. Not sure about the timing, though, just before the weekly online game...

Don´t back down now. There are more of use dislikeing IKEA (and I am swedish), we are just not open about it, don´t let us down!

Leagues (including expansion leagues) / Re: 2017 Basegame League - Round 2
« on: February 09, 2017, 01:52:12 PM »
Two games I won, one with a lot of luck and one with not so much. All the time my meeples seemed to be trapped they somehow got out, nice! As MrNumbers put it "I´ve never seen anyone so lucky with everything" or something like that  >:D

I can´t seem to upload the screenshots, hmm. Will edit later, just for results then;

First Game: MrNumbers 72 - WhatIf 98

Second Game: WhatIf 103 - MrNumbers84

General / Re: Who's tile-counting/memorising?
« on: February 04, 2017, 11:06:52 AM »
I agree pretty much with Dan and memorise to the same extent.

My only problem with (some) tile counters are the extra time they (might) use. Some players can take so long time that I completely lose my flow. This I think is a question probably already raised in a different thread, but surely there must be a way to play timed matches on JCZ? I can not imagine another reason than tile counting for this extra time used.

Otherwise I think for myself that I should improve on this.

My first game report, I feel I want to share this game with people who might understand...

Mother-in-law  had a family dinner, but me and my 7 year old son got mysteriously ill during the night and stayed home while the rest of the kids left with her.

Shortly after they left, we felt better again. What to do on a cold winter day?

First snacks, mint and almond chocolate bits:

Then a game, perhaps?

Draw the randomizer tiles to choose expansions:

Base game, Siege/Cathar, Tower, German Cathedrals, Feuding Families, Inns & Cathedrals, Sheeps & Hills, The King, Pestilence, Gardens, Medieval, WoF, Fortune Teller, Seasons, Abbey & Mayor (No Barn), Labyrinths, German Castles (not in picture). Roughly 240 tiles, 14 towers and 1 abbey each, seems like a good sunday afternoon!

Then setup, the kid gets 2 extra meeples handicap:

You might see that we use a larger meeple for clarity regarding big meeple. The mini meeple is a 1/2 strength add-on we play with, to be played in the immediate cross from the parent meeple. Fun. The dragon was eaten shortly after the picture was taken.

Game begins by son stealing the 3 first large cities and taking a 100 p lead which he held for the next three hours, winning the game!

Sorry for the blurry photo, just to see the playfield...

Endscore
Pink 617 - White 539

Now as the rest of the family are returning, we feel a bit worse again and might return to bed, it is important to rest when you are ill!

edit: whilst writing this my son wrote his own game report, I just had to include it. If you can´t understand the language it says that he got lucky with 3 cities, won a large road worth 42p and that he took all my farmers with his towers:

The Marketplace / Re: Does anyone know where to buy the tunnel expansion?
« on: January 27, 2017, 01:36:59 AM »
I actually bid for that bundle, there was another goodie in there so I thought I could make it cheaper selling the other stuff rather than buying the tunnels separately for 30E, someone was more eager than me though. Maybe someone from here?

WhatIf-ChooseLife 1-1

Balanced games, both won by the starting player.

In the first game CL locked two WI-meeples for a good 45 tiles or so which probably proved decisive.

In the second game the same but in reverse. The large city ended a 3-3 tie. The 0p farmer in the SE would have won the game for CL, but alas!

Second round, here we come!

The Marketplace / Wants: Inlays and/or boxes
« on: January 23, 2017, 07:29:53 AM »
To close my collection in a fashionable manner I need one (1) of the medium sized boxes (A&M-size), any expansion, and three (3) inlays for the same sized box, preferrably in the old art. With inlays I mean the paper in the box keeping the stuff at different heights, in case of wrong wording.

I´ve got small stuff to trade if wanted, pm me. I live in Sweden and would of course pay for shipping.

I am also happy today with Latvian/Swedish postal services as I got a letter from MrNumbers in record time, containing two K-tiles, thank you so much!

The Marketplace / Re: Dan's Spare Bits Giveaway 2016
« on: January 22, 2017, 11:04:10 PM »
As I am doing the final arrangements on my collection (close to finalising) I noticed thet Jérè was right, the bags are too big for practical use, albeit being very nice both in design and fabric.

So, I am putting them up for grabs again. Send me a pm and those lovely bags you can see on page 1 in this thread are yours! I still got some games and beers with Jérè out of it, so it was worth it. If you feel you got an extra set of Cathars/tunnels, don´t be shy to give it away!
