Great stuff!

That's one place higher than I finished the first time I took part in the UK championships. And I'd been playing for 2 years!

Thanks - really interesting write up. Our game was the most entertaining I had all day! I played Julia Bamber and encouraged her afterwards to join this community as she is a quality player. I was fortunate to beat her, even though I have been playing Carcassonne longer than she has been alive!

For all you do for Carcassonne you most definitely deserve a place at the World Championship. You were by far the best player I played all day. Despite having won it twice I feel I have a lot I can learn from you still. I'm sure it will be you year soon - now it is all two player games at the UK Championship I'm sure it will not be long.

Sorry I had to miss the semi final and final rounds - I had a UK Catan Championship to win the next day (and the Champions League final was on)!

Apologies for missing this Riker, and thanks very much for your kind words! Ours was certainly the most intense game I played on the day!

Congratulations on your victory in the Catan competition, when are the European/ world championships?

And yet also the friendliest and played in the best spirit!

Congratulations on your victory in the Catan competition, when are the European/ world championships?

European is due to be in the Autumn this year, in Amsterdam. The Worlds will be in the Autumn next year, probably in Malta.

Hi danisthirty,
I am happy to see that the UK used the 2-player games for their Carcassonne championships.
You did a great tournament day few weeks ago.

This was a fun read! I enjoyed reading of your progress game over game. I do have to ask though, unless I am blind, how is that city in that final game worth 28 points? By my count it is only worth 26 points (2 x (11 tiles + 2 coat of arms)) and I can't see any other feature that could've been played along with the final tile that would've gotten the two other points. I did consider the possibility you made a typo but then I'd have to accept that you made that typo twice. That seems unlikely.

A fascinating thread. From the first post, which I read in full not knowing what the outcome would be, to the last. Interesting insights on what makes for winning play and a date for my diary in June 2020!

Thanks for your feedback cicerunner, I'm glad you enjoyed reading it!

If you're going to put the date for this years competition in your diary then please do it for May rather than June as the championships will be held on Sunday 31st May. More info here: https://www.ukgamesexpo.co.uk/events/BOR5701-carcassonne-uk-championship/ (36 of 48 tickets remaining - and it looks as though it will follow the same format as the 2019 competition)

Come and say Hi if you make it, it's always a pleasure meeting fellow Carcassonne Centralers! ;)

Indeed. They're maintaining that it will go ahead at the moment, but are following government advice. Seems likely that it will be cancelled based on this though considering the scale of the event and hiw crowded it gets at the expo.

And also the diversity of other nations attending.

Maybe CarcC can host the UK champs this year :thinking-face:
